Playing with his Alabama Crimson Tide teammates in the Hamptons Intercollegiate at Maidstone Golf Club in East Hampton, New York, Nick Dunlap was on his 36th hole of the day.

He had already posted a 69 and he was 12 under through 17 on his second 18 when he faced a putt of about eight feet for a closing birdie. Had it dropped, he would’ve notched a 59 and become the first to reach that hallowed ground in the college game.

The Columbia junior fired a program record 11-under 60 in the first round of the Lions’ Columbia Fall Invite, but consecutive rounds of 70 doomed him to second place, just one shot behind winner Marcus Lim from Sacred Heart. On the flip side, the Lions went on to win the event by one shot over Sacred Heart.

Eshleman shot a 10-under 60 during the first round of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate and went on to finish T-8 while his Auburn Tigers won the event by five shots at 45 under.

Sandin felt comfortable at home at the 2022 Lindsey Wilson Invite where he shot a 10-under 60 during the second round.

Gillam shot an opening-round 60 to win the 2019 White Sands Intercollegiate at Ocean Club Golf Course for one of his two collegiate wins for the Demon Deacons.

Wake Forest’s Parker Gillam won the White Sands Intercollegiate on the strength of an opening 60.

The opening day of the Battle at the Shores hosted by Barry University in 2017 was a 36-hole day. Then a sophomore, Guerra posted a 2-over 73 in the first round before firing an 11-under 60 in the afternoon’s second round. How’s that for a bounceback round?

Steven Fisk fired a 12-under 60 in the second round at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational to become the 13th college golfer to post a 60 in college golf, and he had a real shot to be the first 59. He missed a four-footer for birdie on his penultimate hole and missed a 16-footer for birdie on his last.

Li Wang had been frustrated with a swing change that took weeks to set in, and bogeyed the 18th hole at Yale’s home course in a playoff qualifier, sending him to the B-Team for the 2016 Macdonald Cup. He then went on to shoot the best round in program history with a 10-under 60.

Lindberg fired an 11-under 60 at The Country Club at The Legends in Eureka, Missouri, jumping 10 spots on the leaderboard to earn a five-shot victory at the season-opening Arch Cup back in 2016.

Miranda shot an opening-round 11-under 60 and went on to win the 2015 Dowling College September Shootout.

Anderson won the 2014 Golfweek Program Challenge after a final-round 12-under 60 at True Blue Golf Course in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

Carvell shot a 12-under-par 60 in the first round of the 2008 Aldila Scenic City Invitational and went on to finish seven shots ahead of the pack.

Bixler tied the program record with his 11-under 60 in the second round of the 2007 Alister Mackenzie Invitational.

Schachner had his A-game when he needed it most at the 2007 NCAA Championship, where he shot a 10-under 60 to tie the course record at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.

Summerhays beat Schachner to the punch one year prior at Golden Horseshoe at the 2006 NCAA Fall Preview with his course record 10-under 60.

Four years before his fellow Husky Bixler, Mackenzie put his name in the college golf history book with a 12-under 60 at the 2003 Oregon Duck Invitational at Eugene Country Club.

Molder became the second player to sign for a 60, but the first to shoot a 12-under to get there at the 2000 Palmetto Dunes Collegiate at Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes.

The former PGA Tour, DP World Tour and now LIV Golf player didn’t just shoot a 10-under 60, he did so at the 1999 Pac-10 Championship at Broadmoor Golf Club in Seattle.
