About me

My name is Gabriela Fernandez for the bylines, but better known as Gabby. I am a proud Angeleno who recently graduated from the University of Southern California, where I double majored in Broadcast and Digital Journalism and Narrative Studies. Now, I'm in D.C. as an editorial fellow at The Atlantic, where I work with the audience engagement team. Prior to joining The Atlantic, I interned for Money Magazine, CBS's investigative unit in L.A., NBC Nightly News, and the Los Angeles Business Journal. In undergrad, I was deeply involved in Annenberg Media, our student-run digital news outlet. From working as a social media editor to pitching a diversity project as the community desk editor to producing art, I've dabbled in the many practical factors that make a great story. In all, I aspire to make the news more digestible. When I'm not scrolling through the internet, I love to read about inequality and economic hardship in the U.S. and eat Takis like there's no tomorrow.
