BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby says 93% of felony cases ended in convictions in 2020, but not everyone is convinced.

Mosby spells out her conviction rates in an annual report released on Thursday.

The report cites an 85% conviction rate in homicides. 98% of narcotics cases ended in convictions.

"There's no District Attorney in the country that gets anything like that conviction-wise," said Sean Kennedy with Maryland's Public Policy Institute.

Mosby did not include the number of cases her office dismissed in the calculation.

"I follow standards of the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys and most attorneys calculate their rates the same as I do," said Mosby in an interview in 2018.

However, Kennedy believes the conviction rates would be far less if all cases were included in the calculations.

"It's a publicity stunt by someone who should be ashamed of themselves," said Kennedy. "Baltimore is the murder capital of America for the sixth straight year in a row," said Kennedy.
