Support for the Keep STEM Talent Act of 2023
The Johns Hopkins Science Policy & Diplomacy Group is organizing a Capitol Hill Day to advocate for science policy initiatives in meetings with members of Congress. We will be advocating for the Keep STEM Talent Act of 2023 during our visit.

The Keep STEM Talent Act of 2023 is a bipartisan piece of legislation proposing to remove the green card limits for international graduates of U.S. institutions with STEM degrees. It would also allow students to apply for permanent resident status while retaining their student visa, providing more residency security as students near graduation (dual-intent). We believe it is beneficial to provide a direct avenue to permanent residency for STEM students training in the United States and who wish to continue to contribute to U.S. STEM industries and academia after graduating. The Keep STEM Talent Act has gone through multiple iterations and has been perpetually stuck being reviewed by the House Judiciary Committee, so we are going to advocate for the bill to move forward and be brought to a committee vote and subsequent floor vote in both the U.S. House and Senate. For more information and the bill text, click the link above.

We invite you to please fill out this statement of support form, particularly if you are an international student or a globally conscious American student at Johns Hopkins who would like us to express your support of this bill to Congress during our Capitol Hill Day visit in March 2024.
