*MAKE SURE TO READ THE RULES & TERMS BEFORE SUBMITTING*

The 10th Visions Film Festival & Conference is an event dedicated to undergraduate filmmakers and scholars. Visions, the only international film festival AND conference run by undergraduates for undergraduates, will take place March 24th-28th, 2021. Hosted by the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Film Studies department, Visions is an international event that unites a community of undergraduates and offers a unique opportunity for passionate film students to indulge in an environment full of artistic expression and film-focused works.

Our five-day virtual event will include online screenings, conference blocks, workshops, Q&A panels with filmmakers and scholars, and a One-Take Video Race, all of which foster networking opportunities and lead to valuable peer connections. In addition, we host Visionary Panel(s) and Keynote Addresses, which allow undergraduate students to connect with filmmakers and scholars already established in the industry.

Visions 10 is dedicated to celebrating the ingenuity and diversity of student work.
Short films of all genres (including animation, documentary, experimental, narrative, and music video), as well as scholarly articles related to film and media studies, are encouraged for submission.
Only submissions from undergraduate filmmakers and scholars are taken into consideration.

Each year, Visions awards over $6000 in prizes to exceptional filmmakers and scholars. Past awards have included camera and sound equipment packages, film and processing packages from Pro8mm Film, Cinelab and Kodak, as well as animation software from Toon Boom, Adobe Creative Suite subscriptions, and RedGIant suites. We have also awarded Film Festival Badges from the home cities of the winners (i.e. Austin Film Festival, Cucalorus Film Festival, Virginia Film Festival, and more).

I recently had my film "pulsing orange, skinny youth" shown at the VisionsFFC where we won the "Visionary Award". I highly recommend this festival to any Undergraduate! There is great networking opportunities, hospitality, communication and overall care to details! Meeting all the students who ran the festival was great, and unique to the film festival experience. There are great prizes too if you happen to win one of the categories! Overall, I met a lot of great people, watched a lot of great films and had a wonderful time.

An incredibly generous, professional and friendly festival/conference. There simply is no better venue for undergraduate film exhibition/scholarship, and it was such a joy getting to meet other passionate undergrads from across the country. Will definitely be submitting again next year, thanks so much to all the staff at Visions!

Everyone at the festival was passionate, focused and dedicated. As an event it was small but in an intimate sense. Everything felt tight knit and inviting. It was an incredible experience.
