Danyette Smith Named Inaugural Anthem Assists Award Winner

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis resident Danyette Smith will be awarded the first Anthem Assists Award on Friday evening at Indiana Farmers Coliseum when the Indiana Fever take on the New York Liberty at 7 p.m. ET, the team announced today.

“Danyette is a strong female leader that we are delighted to highlight as our first Anthem Assists Award recipient,” Fever President Dr. Allison Barber said. “We are grateful to help share her story and we look forward to showcasing everyday Hoosiers doing good every day.”

In 2014, Smith founded Silent No More, Inc., a nonprofit organization aimed to help women and children find emergency shelter placement after residing in unsafe home environments due to abuse. Silent No More, Inc. also offers education, prevention and awareness on domestic violence to the community and also offers an accessible hotline for victims and survivors to contact by phone, email or online.

Smith was also recognized in 2016 with the Advocacy Award from the Domestic Violence Network (DVN) and Julian Center of Indianapolis.

“Being the first winner of the Anthem Assists Award is emotional for me because I am only being who I needed when I was fleeing domestic violence,” Smith said. “I want to thank so many people for standing behind Silent No More, Inc. and I want to encourage people to volunteer or attend events in the community to learn more about us.”
