As a member of the EXCEL Learning Community students commit to the following for the first year of college (fall/spring):

First Time in College

Required Courses

Taking the required math courses for their major with the EXCEL program (College Algebra – Differential Equations).

STEM Seminar sequence – ISC 2054 and ISC 2055

Other Requirements

Participate in the required EXCEL Center study hours (minimum of 3 a week) prior to the first math exam. These hours will be dropped/adjusted based on a student’s performance on each math exam.

Meet with your PeerKnights Coach a minimum of two times during each term your first year.

Meet with EXCEL Advisor when requested to discuss math performance.

Engagement

An undergraduate research experience for eligible students (3.0 UCF GPA) in the spring semester of the second year which will be supervised by EXCEL faculty and will lead to other rewarding experiences at UCF (e.g., RAMP, McNair programs).

FTIC students are connected with the appropriate resources to help prepare them for student engagement opportunities such as internships, study abroad and undergraduate research.

Enriching opportunities to engage in social, academic, and professional development activities.


Transfer

Required Courses

Taking the required math courses for their major with the EXCEL program (Calculus I – Differential Equations)

OR

Taking discipline specific courses cohorted by EXCEL.

STEM Seminar: Immersive Transfer Experience

Other Requirements

Participate in the required EXCEL Center study hours (minimum of 3 a week) prior to the first math exam. These hours will be dropped/adjusted based on a student’s performance on each math exam.

Meet with your PeerKnights Coach a minimum of two times during your first term.

Meet with EXCEL Advisor when requested to develop a graduation course plan.

Engagement

Transfer admits are encouraged to engage in a High Impact Practice (HIP) (i.e., Peer Mentoring/Coaching, Internships, Study Abroad, Undergraduate Research, Campus Learning Communities, etc.) as early as their second term at UCF.

Transfer students will be eligible to participate in the EXCEL undergraduate research experience.
