Brainspotting Phase 2 is designed to add upon the powerful tool box of Phase 1 techniques. Phase 2 is only available if you have completed Phase 1 due to the integration necessary to utilize Phase 2 techniques effectively. The techniques trained in Phase two are commonly regarded for highly effective resourcing capability and additional tools for processing complex trauma. In Brainspotting Phase two we advance upon proven Phase 1 techniques by covering the following: • Z Axis: Adding in distance and proxemics into the use of the BSP pointer • One Eye BSP: Utilizing goggles to strategically utilize one eye at a time. • Outside-Inside BSP: Utilizing two proven techniques together effectively • Rolling Brainspotting: Slow movements to produce thorough result

Deschutes Wilderness Therapy Trainer: Steve Sawyer, LCSW, CSAC, is Deschute's Chief Clinical Consultant. Steve is a highly experienced clinician and trainer with a wide span of experiences in settings spanning outpatient, residential, school, and wilderness therapeutic realms. He is the Chief Clinical Trainer for the Embark Programs group of sixteen residential treatment settings. Steve has been through all Phases of Brainspotting Training and is a highly experienced Brainspotting Phase 1 & 2 Trainer, offering trainings across the country. Steve is additionally a therapeutic development staff with the Institute of HeartMath, works collaboratively with The Trauma Center of Boston, and spends time with many of the Trauma Masters like Stephen Porges, Bessel van der Kolk, Gabor Mate, Joseph Spinazzola, and Robert Scaer. Steve integrates this expert depth of cutting edge treatment knowledge into all of his Brainspotting trainings. The meaning behind Steve’s passionate work with Historical trauma took a big significant and meaningful turn when his Grandmother, who was a known adoptee revealed his Native family roots at 88 years old. The healing of shame along with the accompanying secrecy as a result of colonialism and healing historical trauma remain some of Steve’s most passionate career works. Steve’s life remains highly committed to a the traditional “Chanku Luta” (Red Road) Native way of life. ____
