EU-Latin America Collaboration: Catalysing innovation through university partnerships - 12WS22288

International collaboration is crucial to encouraging the green transition, youth empowerment and the digital transition. Consequently, we are expanding territorial cohesion outside European borders to trigger innovation and foster new partnerships between Latin American and European Universities. But how do we enact it? Our speakers will provide practical examples of what can be implemented at the core of university strategies, and what this means for researchers and scientists. 

The EU remains Latin America's most important development partner, and should thus seize this critical recovery period to foster innovation. Through project co-implementation and targeted policies enhancing international partnerships, we can create the first generation of researchers that can share their ideas as easily around the world as they can within their own country.

This workshop is an opportunity to identify best practices for fostering such collaboration.

Alejandra Gonzalez, coordinator of the I2LATAM project, will present how direct initiatives conducted among researchers can shift attitudes towards international partnerships. Daniel Samoilovich, director of the multilateral organisation Columbus, will show how EU support can help achieve the International Strategy of Universities and present a practical tool for cooperation. Two young researchers from Latin America will showcase the first results and action plans, while some European partners will pitch EU best practice examples. Parties will then discuss the best ways to further encourage EU-Latin American collaboration.
