About us
The world faces multiple, simultaneous crises. Widening inequality and economic turmoil threaten communities around the globe. Biodiversity is declining. The impacts of climate change — from extreme heat to destructive floods — are becoming ever-more threatening. While the transition to a better future has begun, it’s not yet happening at the speed and scale necessary. What the world needs is a great transition. And WRI has the research, partnerships and global reach to help get it right. We envision a new era in which the world can meet people’s needs while curbing climate change and protecting nature. We see a future where everyone can enjoy clean air, walkable cities, vibrant landscapes, nutritious food and affordable energy. Ecosystems are thriving. The climate is stable. We start with rigorous research, work with partners to apply evidence-based approaches globally and in focus countries, and broadly share lessons learned to create systemic change around the world.

Why are climate-related disclosures such a big deal?🤔 💡Companies should be setting themselves up for success by proactively reporting their #climatedata. This includes looking beyond the risks that affect their own bottom lines and getting ahead of the curve on how their #business affects the climate. 🌎Climate-related disclosures are a key enabler for #corporateclimateaction. After all, companies cannot reduce their planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions or build resilience to climate change impacts without robust information on where emissions and climate risks occur within their businesses. This transparency can be an important tool for holding companies accountable to setting up and meeting their climate goals. 👍But climate disclosures aren’t just a political tool. They’re good for companies, too. The transparency provided by disclosure helps companies to operate more efficiently by surfacing potential risks so that management can respond proactively. Risk disclosure also makes investors happy, because the more information they have, the better they are at avoiding bad investment decisions. Learn more📄 https://bit.ly/3QBtRPo

🌽Corn and soybean crops dominate the Midwestern U.S.'s agricultural landscape, occupying 75% of the region's arable land. 🌱Between one-third and three-quarters of these crops are likely used to produce the fossil fuel alternative "biofuel." ☀️But biofuel's production raises questions about its sustainability and equity. For the Midwestern farmers who produce most of the U.S.'s corn and soy, the impact of biofuel's rise has been significant. 📎 https://bit.ly/4bRVa0V #biofuel #sustainability #agriculture
