I had the opportunity to attend the National Black MBA Association conference in Philadelphia last week. There were over 10,000 professionals and 100+ firms who attended the conference. Conferences are an excellent opportunity for firms to meet and attract the right applicants. At NBMBA, current, prospective, and graduated MBA students met with some of the biggest companies in various industries for employment opportunities. Also recruiting were business schools, including many HBCUs. Companies should include attending conferences as part of their recruitment strategy. - Depending on the recruitment goal, identify the conferences/career fairs you want to attend. The goal could just be to raise employer brand awareness - Pre-conference communications. Are you looking to fill existing positions? Then, it may be helpful to set-up interviews at the conference and pre-screen potential candidates. - The next step is sending the right team. The team could be a mix of recruiters and functional leaders. - Post-conference follow-up can help build the talent pipeline/community #talentacquisition #talentstrategy #nbmbaa2023
