My Students

PGHS is known for its dedicated Band Program. Our band program consists of 9th through 12th grade students. We have four levels in our program: Concert Band, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble and many of our intermediate and advanced students also have the option of joining our Jazz Band. I feel very privileged to be able to teach some students for all four years of high school and as the former middle school Band Director, I’ve had many students since 7th grade. With that said, my favorite part of being a Band Director is probably starting our beginners. Unfortunately, our program is aging and is in desperate need of new equipment.

My Project

PGHS has a robust music program composed of multiple instrumental programs. While we have wonderful community support, it can sometimes be a challenge to get our students all of the supplies they need and deserve.

Concert Band can especially be quite expensive, but the importance of good instruments cannot be overstated!

The 4 Valve Euphonium will be used in all our music programs. The Marching Band, Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will benefit from this new instrument. It bridges the gap of sound between the high and low brass. It is typically more expensive than smaller instruments (flutes, clarinets, trumpets) and students rarely have their own so the school must provide.

It is a versatile instrument that reads in both bass and treble clef, so it gives trumpet, tuba, and trombone students another opportunity to fill out the lower section of sound in the band.
