This session will provide an overview of EU actions and the regulatory frameworks put in place since 2018 to foster sustainable finance. The EU is fully committed to developing the market for sustainable finance, also as an issuer of Green Bonds, to finance the EU’s economic recovery. International investors increasingly focus on assets that are aligned with environmental, social and governance objectives. This will be an opportunity to discuss how European and international frameworks, such as the EU Taxonomy or the upcoming European Green Bond Standard, can help mobilise finance for ‘proven’ sustainable investments, and how they can contribute to setting global standards. What will it take to set harmonised standards globally?
