Megan’s Wish

  Donate

In 2008, we met a very special young lady named Megan Brinkman. At the time, she was only 7 years old. Megan shared with us how she visited Santa during the Christmas Season with her family. When he asked her that all important question that every child is so eager to answer, “What would you like for Christmas?”  Megan responded, “I want to help homeless people, and help give them a warm place to sleep and food to eat.”

How we wish we could have been there to see Santa’s reaction to Megan’s request!

Driven by passion to make a difference, Megan went to her neighbors, friends, and family to ask for financial donations to give to the Durham Rescue Mission.  On Christmas Eve, we met Megan and witnessed the Brinkman family serve lunch and give Christmas presents to our women and children. We felt astonished when she handed us over $500 to help our homeless men, women, and children.  After serving our women and children and witnessing how she was making an impact, Megan was determined to do more the next year, and she hasn’t missed a year since.  We were humbled by Megan’s desire to help others and we hope you are as well.
