Sinfonia and "New to String Project" Placement Auditions - September 10, 2021
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Sinfonia or joining the ISU String Project program for the Fall 2021 semester!  Auditions will be held LIVE on campus in Cook Hall.

String Project Information:
The Illinois State University String Project is an after-school music program that offers low-cost instruction on stringed instruments to kids in the community.  The purpose of the program is to support existing public school string programs and to provide string education to those enrolled in schools where no program is available.

New Student Placement "Audition"
Students should come prepared to play a solo/piece of your choice (1-3 minutes) that demonstrates the student's skill level; we will also give each student some sight-reading. The placement auditions help our teachers place each student in the correct class (Dolce, Allegro, or Vivace)

Sinfonia Audition Information:
Sinfonia is an audition-only performing group equal in level to an advanced middle school string ensemble.

Please note the following Sinfonia audition requirements:

1) A solo of your choice, Suzuki Book 2 or higher (or piece of comparable level)
2) Sight-Reading
3) Sinfonia Only Scale Requirement- Students need to play all correct notes with appropriate fingerings; does not need to be memorized
   Violin: G, A, Bb, C and D Major (2 octave)
   Viola: C, D, F, Eb, and G Major (2 octave)
   Cello: C, G, D, F, and A Major (2 octave)
   Bass: E, F, G, and A Major (1 octave)

Sinfonia audition and new-student placement auditions will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, beginning at 4:15.  Additional auditions may be scheduled, depending on the number of students auditioning. Specific audition times will be scheduled by String Project staff and auditions will take place in Cook Hall on the ISU Campus.  If you absolutely cannot make this date, we will do our best to schedule an audition at an alternate time.
You will receive a confirmation email once your audition time has been secured (which will include the exact time and date of your audition).

If you would like to audition, please fill out the following form.
