Save Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online (SUCHO): Phase 2 - Curate, Donate, Educate

We are moving into Phase 2 of the Saving Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online (SUCHO) initiative and are in need of very specific types of skill sets from our volunteers. We will reach out to you if you meet our criteria.

  1. Reading knowledge of one or more languages (especially, but not limited to: French, German, Finnish, Estonian, or Lithuanian)
  2. Able to identify, transcribe, and describe each meme using a Google form

Gallery Metadata Curation
Curate web archived items in the “Exploring Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online” gallery. Objects represent a range of heritage materials from institutions including (but not limited to) archives, libraries, museums, local history organizations, schools, theaters, and monasteries across Ukraine. Each object is described with Ukrainian and English metadata along with details about the institution where the object is physically housed and hosted online. View at https://gallery.sucho.org/.
  1. Basic familiarity with Omeka or Content Management Systems
  2. Able to describe items from web archived content using devised metadata template and guide
  3. Basic understanding of metadata or subject classification (e.g. Library of Congress)

Curate a collection of web archived objects uploaded to the Internet Archive with minimal metadata. View at https://archive.org/details/sucho.
  1. Able to describe items from web archived content using devised metadata template and guide
  2. Basic understanding of metadata or subject classification (e.g. Library of Congress)

Quality Control of Web Archived Content
Help ensure that the web archived content has gone through a thorough quality control pass and apply some basic metadata to support findability. (Starting in September)
  1. Reading knowledge of Ukrainian and Cyrillic alphabet
  2. Able to review, update, and/or create metadata for web archived item content using devised metadata template and guide
