FUSION 2022-2023 Contract
COMPANY MEMBER CONTRACT:
FUSION Dance Company is a diverse group of passionate Franklin HS students dedicated to the discipline and art of dance. FUSION is a class, an after-school training program, a student-governed club, a community booster, and a team. Dancers within FUSION are committed to developing their dance & choreography skills. Dancers wear designated FUSION uniforms for rehearsals & performances, participate in fundraising, and collaborate with guest artists in the community.
COMPANY GOALS:
In order for every company to be successful, goals must be set and achieved. Each year the company will create a list of goals that they would like to work on. Below is a list of goals that the company will start out with each year. The company as a group will create additional goals once the year has begun.
1) To build advanced level performance skills.
2) To build company unity and family bonding with all members.
3) To apply proper dance technique and better enhance personal dance training.
4) To work together as a team/company, and perform together as a team/company.
5) To gain a professional essence of dance as an art form and a sport.
DANCER EXPECTATIONS:
It is expected that by accepting a position on FUSION, each member will represent Franklin HS and the FUSION name with pride and respect in a positive manner. It is expected that each member of FUSION follow the expectations listed below at all times, both on and off campus:
1. 100% Commitment and Attendance to all scheduled rehearsals.
2. 100 % Commitment and Attendance to all scheduled performances, competitions and events.
3. To follow the Franklin HS and EGUSD requirement that all top performing groups must maintain a G.P.A. of a 2.0 or higher in order to be eligible to perform.
4. Attend school and all academic classes on a regular daily basis.
5. To be on time to all scheduled events, rehearsals, and performances. This also includes being on time for your classes throughout the day. “Being Early Is On Time, Being On Time Is Late.”
6. Respect oneself, each other, other faculty, other’s belongings, and the student body.
7. Respect the company director and student directors, and respect all decisions that they make.
8. Respect the dance floors, mirrors, barres, lockers and equipment; Keep the studio clean!
9. Respect other dance companies/teams and their directors at outside performances and competitions.
10. Maintain a positive image when wearing the FUSION name.
*This includes; not using bad language, speaking negatively about company members, other companies/teams, or issues among the company.
*This also includes not practicing illegal actions before, during, and at after-school events.
11. Public Display of Affection (PDA) with significant others at company events and performances will not be tolerated. Significant others
who come to support the company should be reminded to sit in spectator seating and be aware of when their presence is becoming a
distraction to the company.
12. Maintain a positive image on personal time. Remember, you are now a high profile on campus and everyone (the administration, the
faculty and student body) will watch every action you do, even when not wearing ‘FUSION’ attire.
13. Have full commitment and dedication to the company. Once you have accepted a position on FUSION Dance Company it is expected that you will make this a high priority.
14. To work hard and dance full out at all times.
15. To dress out in appropriate dance attire for all class and rehearsals.
16. To ask questions when uncertain about choreography, announcements, and calendar events.
17. To be up to date with current company issues and events.
18. To be prepared with all costume pieces and/or props for all scheduled events and performances.
19. To maintain a healthy lifestyle, eating properly, getting enough sleep, and practicing good time management skills.
20. To Maintain a professional and positive attitude during rehearsals and performances.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
GPA: In order to participate in after-school rehearsals, performances, and competitions, the student must have a 2.5 grade point average or better in all course work attempted in the preceding grading period. If a student falls below a 2.5 grade point average or has received an F grade during progress reports, he/she will be placed on academic probation.
ATTENDANCE: In order to participate in after-school activities, students must have attended at least 2 block periods (at least half the school day). A parent/guardian must excuse all absences with the office for any truant class periods; Failure to do so may result in being pulled from after-school rehearsals, performances, or competitions.
DEFICIENCY LIST: In order to participate in after-school rehearsals, performances, and competitions, all students must have a zero balance for FUSION uniforms/activities and be cleared by Mr. Candelaria and the FHS Site Controller.
UNIFORMS & DANCE SHOES:
All dancers will be required to maintain a strict dress code for daily class, rehearsals and performances. Uniforms will be distributed at the beginning of the school year, if a uniform piece becomes damaged, lost or stolen during the school year, it is the responsibility of that dancer and his or her family to replace the item immediately. In addition to the uniforms, dancers are also responsible for their dance shoes. Following auditions, FUSION dancers will attend a meeting with their parent/guardians, attend a uniform fitting, complete a uniform order- form and submit a designed deposit before the end of the current school year.
REHEARSALS & PERFORMANCES:
*All rehearsals and performances are mandatory. Members are responsible for their own transportation to and from all rehearsals and performances unless bus transportation is provided.
*Rehearsals will be held when felt necessary by the director, usually three to four times per week (extra rehearsals will be scheduled with one week’s notice). Dancers are required to be available Monday - Thursday from 3:15-5:30pm. NO ONE will be allowed to be absent, arrive late or leave early from rehearsal without PRIOR approval from the Director.
*No visitors will be allowed during any rehearsal session unless given permission PRIOR by the Director.
*All absences/tardiness from rehearsals, performances, or other designated meetings and events must be approved by the Director; Illness (with parent/doctor’s note), scheduled family vacation, and family emergencies are the ONLY excusable absence/tardy. You must have a note verifying each absence, signed by your parent/guardian.
*If a dancer is absent, arrives late/leaves early, or is unable to dance full-out due to illness or injury, he or she may be removed from sections or the entire routine being rehearsed. Dress rehearsals or a final rehearsal before performance is always mandatory to remain in the routine and/or performance (no exceptions).
*Participation in any additional activities that may conflict with the rehearsal schedule are to be discussed with the Director prior to joining the team: this includes clubs, activities, theatre, sports, community events, church groups, and jobs. In most scenarios, Dancers are unable to participate in multiple after-school activities.
*All dancers are to arrive on time for performances. There will be a designated “call time” that dancers are to adhere to, dancers that arrive late or are unprepared with the incorrect attire, shoes, make-up/hair accessories may be removed from the performance.
