Burn Box Facility Provides Challenging Training in Residential and Commercial Fires

At LSC’s Emergency Response Training Center, students and professional firefighters drill on a state of the art burn box training facility. Recycled steel shipping containers have been repurposed into a multi-story burn box structure with doors and windows designed to be used repeatedly for burns.

The newest addition to the burn box facility includes a three story, 16-unit apartment building and three simulated commercial storefronts. These containers will have rooms, hallways and stairwells to allow for increasingly complex and realistic training scenarios.
