Gregory R. Danielson

Senior of Counsel

Greg Danielson is Senior of Counsel at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP and a former member of the firm’s Executive Committee. For the last 40 years, Mr. Danielson has represented oil and gas companies in all phases of the exploration, development, and marketing of oil and gas assets. He has extensive experience with:

  • joint ventures for upstream and downstream development
  • acquisition and divestiture of oil and gas properties and midstream assets
  • all forms of commercial oil and gas contracts, including JOAs, leases, SUAs, gathering, processing, and disposal agreements.

Mr. Danielson has also represented oil and gas clients in administrative matters before the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. He has generally represented oil and gas companies in workouts and bankruptcy proceedings, including acting as a Chapter 7 trustee in the liquidation of an independent oil and gas company.

Mr. Danielson is an active participant in The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law. He has served on the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee for the Foundation and co-chaired Special Institute Programs for “The Regulation and Development of Coalbed Methane” and “Development Issues & Conflicts in Modern Gas and Oil Plays.” He is also a past Chairman of the Natural Resources and Energy Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association.

Mr. Danielson has been named in The Best Lawyers in America and as “Lawyer of the Year” for Energy, Natural Resources, and Oil & Gas Law. He has been recognized by Chambers USA for Natural Resources and Environment and “Leader in Their Field” for Energy & Natural Resources. Mr. Danielson was named as one of the world’s leading practitioners in Who’s Who Legal: Energy and in 5280 for Natural Resources Law.

  • A joint venture for the development of natural gas and helium in the Powder River Basin, Wyoming
  • A $1.6 billion exchange of assets in Pennsylvania and Wyoming
  • A $330 million divestiture of a public E&P Company’s assets in the Williston Basin, North Dakota
  • A $208 million divestiture of a private equity E&P Company’s Appalachian Basin assets
  • A development joint venture in the Piceance Basin involving drilling, gathering, processing, water delivery, and water disposal
  • A public E&P Company’s acquisition of DJ Basin properties for $187 million
  • A public E&P Company’s $1.5 billion acquisition of Permian Basin assets
  • A public E&P Company’s $118 million acquisition of Delaware Basin assets
  • A public E&P Company’s $900 million divestiture of DJ Basin assets
  • A public E&P Company’s $150 million acquisition of Powder River Basin assets
  • The exchange of 10,000 oil and gas leasehold acres in the Powder River Basin, Wyoming
  • The exchange of wells and leasehold in the Uinta Basin of Utah and Wyoming
  • The divestiture of tertiary recovery federal oil and gas units in Wyoming
  • A private equity E&P Company’s $160 million divestiture of Barnett Shale assets
  • The acquisition of gas processing plan in the Powder River Basin
  • A public E&P Company’s $375 million disposition of midstream assets, including gas processing plant and water disposal system, in the Williston Basin, North Dakota
