Connecticut State Colleges & University staff to face vaccination requirement

Connecticut's State Colleges and University announced Tuesday that all staff must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or face weekly testing. Parents and students moving into dorms say they welcome the news.
News 12’s John Craven was at Southern Connecticut State University Tuesday, where cars lined up early, ready to unload their gear and set up their new living quarters.
But in the age of COVID-19, this year's class is noticeably smaller.
University President Dr. Joe Bertolino says the campus is safe. So far, 93% of students who contacted the university said they are vaccinated. Of the students who haven’t reported yet, the university believes most are also vaccinated, but may have forgotten to reply to an email sent out by the school. Students can also get vaccines at the school.

Dr. Bertoloino says plans are in place if an outbreak should occur.
“All of those individuals are tested. Those individuals are quarantined. We provide quarantine and isolation in a separate building here on campus,” he said.
Indoors, masks are required. Outdoors, tents are being set up for classes.
Despite any COVID-19 trepidation, students who were moving in remained optimistic.
"I feel like being vaccinated is a huge piece of this and I know that the school has a lot of communication around masks. And I think it'll be ok,” says Jen Donovan, a parent from of Walpole, Massachusetts.
