The College STAR Student Support Network Virtual Workshop Series

The College STAR Network is gearing up to host its 4th Annual Student Success Virtual Workshop Series! This year, our virtual workshop series for K12 and Higher Education professionals will begin on October 26th, 2023 and run until May 9th, 2024. Registered attendees can join us live on each scheduled day at 12:00 PM EST or access recordings at your convenience.

The mission of this virtual workshop series is to provide tools and resources for students with learning and attention differences and assist participants in identifying best practices when conducting the transition from high school to college.

This year College STAR is excited to offer two affordable registration costs. A single user or family can access the entire virtual workshop series for $25.00. Additionally school systems can purchase a single registration for $100.00, which provides an unlimited number of logins to the entire virtual workshop series, that can be shared amongst the school system. Options: Types of College Settings

October 26, 2023

This session will provide participants with information about different types of post-secondary settings available after high school. Participants will learn about settings specifically where students with disabilities can be successful independently as well as with additional support if needed

Habits and Behaviors of Successful College Students

January 25, 2024

This presentation will discuss strategies and tactics essential for success in college. Participants will learn about the habits and behaviors that are critical for student success, such as time management, organization, etc.

Transition to College: A Student Perspective

February 22, 2024

Join us for the Student Perspective Panel as we have a panel of current students to discuss their experiences transitioning to college, building resiliency, and preparing for the professional setting. Students from institutions around the country will share information about their specific program, resources and support!

Common College Resources and Departments

March 21, 2024

This presentation will cover important information about the college setting regarding disabilities, self-advocacy, the laws, and reasonable accommodations. Context will include information on common college/university programs, support services, and departments that students may need to investigate prior to choosing the institution that's right for them.

Differences between High School and College

May 9, 2024

This session will highlight key difference between high school and college that are helpful for college-bound students and their families to be aware of. We will also share transition tips related to each contract, which students can se to start preparing for these changes long before arriving on campus.

The Inaugural Virtual Conference was held on October 27, 2020. Professionals from across the country assembled to inform participants about topics such as: accessibility services and accommodations, developing a college-level learning and support profile for individual students based on the student’s strengths and anticipated needs, and the identification of ‘right fit’ student support programs based on these needs. The mission of this conference was to provide tools and resources for students with learning and attention differences and assist participants in identifying best practices when conducting the transition from high school to college.
