On Friday, September 29th, more than 60 golfers were on the course at Oakmont Green on a dreary Friday morning raising money for the scholarship fund at Carroll Lutheran School. This year’s tournament was sponsored by Friend Commercial Real Estate.

The Annual Swing for Scholarships Tournament raised almost $16,000. The funds raised with this tournament offer us the opportunity to provide scholarships to families who need tuition assistance. The scholarship fund allows us to extend the reach of Christian education to the children of our community. In February 2023, a vital member of the CLS community passed away at the age of 90. Robert Fischer was instrumental in the creation of the current school building at 1738 Old Taneytown Road in Westminster. It is with his efforts and his business contacts that he was able to find the acreage and manage the process of blueprints to the creation of the beautiful campus that schools over 100 students each year. In recognition of his dedication to the school, beginning in 2024, this golf tournament will be named The Robert Fischer Memorial Golf Tournament. The tournament will continue to raise funds for the scholarship fund, but the scholarship fund will now be a living legacy in Bob’s name.
