Everyone says Rex Gunderson isn't boyfriend material. Everyone says he isn't serious enough. Everyone says he’s a joke. Rumor has it, the disgraced ex-manager of the wrestling team left campus with his tail between his legs.

But now Rex is back—nowhere near the douchebag he used to be—and ready to prove everyone wrong.

The leopard has changed his spots, and he’s about to become my dating coach.

“Maybe it’s time to give the nice guy a shot”

If you’re a fan of Sara Ney’s ‘How to Date a Douchebag’ series, you know and love Rex Gunderson. Rex is hilarious and sweet but has never been considered dating material. He’s back to help with the team after he’s graduated and he’s a changed man.

Hannah is Skylar’s roommate (from The Lying Hours) and needs a little help on the dating scene. She’s blunt, sarcastic, and comes across standoffish to her dates. She and Rex match on a dating app and he decides to help her be more approachable and learn to talk to guys.

I loved this couples banter and back and forth texting. I loved it even more when they met/dated in person. They made the sweetest couple. I could tell even in such a short book that Rex had changed for the better and I was happy he found the girl for him. I only wish this was a little longer and we got more of Rex and Hannah’s story!

AAHHH this was the best way to end this series. Absolutely loved it!

Rex was adorable and gah I loved the way he’s become a better person after what he went through.

Hannah was hilarious and them two together were super cute. Their banter was 🤌

I would’ve LOVED it if Rex had a full length novel but I still really enjoyed it even if it was short.

FIVE DOUCHE STARS for Hannah and Rex ❤🖤❤🖤!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I LOVE THIS NOVELLA SO MUCH!!!

Okay, let's go from the beginning...

I absolutely love Sara Ney's writing style because her books always make me laugh a lot and in the "How to Date a Douchebag" series there are a lot of useful quotes that I became using in my real life.

Why?

Because they are so true and hilarious!

"The Teaching Hours" is a romantic comedy novella with fake date trope.

Hannah is a female character who with her need to learn how to date guys without saying them awkward things on the first date or say them in their face that they are douchebags, reminded me of myself.

Rex is a total sweetheart in this novella and I love his behavior toward Hannah because he was honest trough the whole novella which made Hannah change her opinion about him.

Hannah and Rex's relationship is sweet and funny.

I love their chemistry and how good they look together.

If you need a book which will make you laugh and you looking for a quick read then this novella is definitely for you!

Highly recommended!!!

I love Sara Ney and I especially love this series. And what's even better than a random novella by Sara Ney? One that contains 2 secondary characters from some of the other books.

Rex was king of the douches. And I really love that him becoming the "funcle" to Annabelle's beautiful baby girl made him into a semi decent human being. And seeing him be so sweet and slightly vulnerable for Hannah was awesome.

I love Hannah she's so fierce yet as the main character she was just your average insecure new adult trying to negotiate the dating world. These two were the perfect compliment to each other and I can't wait for the next Douchebag to be tamed.

This was like the icing on a perfectly scrumptious cake for me. I've loved the Douchebag series, and even though Rex was like an annoying fly for me for most of the series, I still couldn't help but wonder if he'll ever get a HEA. You get to see him grow throughout the series little by little. So getting this novella as a bonus and reading about his finally finding a girl that gets him. Perfection!

While this is a standalone novella, you'd be doing yourself a huge disservice reading this without having previously read the rest of the series. Trust me. It just won't feel the same. This is just a sweet taste of the Douchebag greatness. And while it was cute and fun, it wasn't as satisfying as a full book would feel.

I loved watching Hannah slowly fall for Rex. Hannah is not perfect herself. She's definitely got word vomit disease, doesn't mince words, and doesn't shy from putting a guy in his place. Suffice it to say dating is a bit tough for her. When she swipes on Rex in the college dating app, their playful texts soon lead to an unorthodox connection. Rex offers to teach Hannah to date. Hannah first sees Rex as a cute nerd but her opinion changes quickly the more they hang out.

This was a lighthearted, fun, quick little read that was the perfect cherry on top. I'll miss this series so much.

AHHH!! Rex Gunderson's book was THE book that I have wanted from the beginning of Sara Ney's Dbag series. There is something about the sarcastic and snarky (former) wrestling team manager that I was intrigued by, especially after The Coaching Hours. For that reason when I came across his story in the Team Player 2 anthology I could not jump on his story fast enough!

The Teaching Hours was a fun and sexy story of opposites attracting and alllll the fun to be had in the process. After Rex redeemed himself in Annabelle and Elliott's book, I could not wait to see what shenanigans he and Hannah would pull together!

Overall I enjoyed this quick novella. Hannah and Rex seemed quirky and awkward at times but that was what was so charming and endearing about their connection. Their story was adorkable and fun and a cute addition to the always popular and addicting Dbag series.  4 stars! ~Ratula

Short, sexy, and full of the snappy dialogue I've come to love from Sara Ney books, The Teaching Hours was so much more satisfying than I was expecting!

Here's the thing - I don't love novellas. I often feel cheated by them - like just when I'm really sinking into the story, it's over. Like things happen so quickly that I can't connect with them. I generally take a pass - but y'all - I'm so glad I didn't pass on this one!

None of those things happened with Rex and Hannah's story. I didn't feel cheated at all. This felt like a complete story - and it was filled with sparky chemistry, playful banter, and heaps of heat. They were so much fun in all of their awkward, adorkable glory. I connected with them immediately and I loved getting the complete redemption of Rex Gunderson.

Like I said, I enjoyed this one so much! It was a quick, easy, and totally satisfying read. Definitely one to check out! ~ Shelly, 4.5 Stars

The Teaching Hours is a quick, fun and lighthearted read that I absolutely loved! Now I normally won't read a novella. Just as I really start getting into the story... bam, it's over. But hello... Sara Ney wrote it. I will never pass up anything that she writes. I love her fun, smart and quirky writing.

Rex is back, and he's met his match in Hannah. She is awkward, outspoken and needs to be schooled on landing a man. And who better to teach her than the reformed douchebag himself. What follows is a meet-cute filled with a natural, undeniable chemistry, playful banter and lots of heat.

All in all, I really enjoyed Rex and Hannah's story. I would have preferred it to be a little bit longer, but hey... I'll take what I can get. If you enjoyed Sara's How To Date a Douchebag series, then you'll definitely want to check this one out. Five stars for Rex, Hannah and The Teaching Hours!

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

I never thought I would want more Rex Gunderson. I despised the guy until he appeared in The Coaching Hours, and then I suddenly wanted to know more about him.

This was a really fun little novella, and I loved Rex. While I love that Sara Ney has given us some Rex, I really wish it was a full length novel, rather than a novella. Here's hoping we might get some scenes from him at a later date.

The novella itself was really fast and easy to read. It was light hearted and funny, but also touched on the fact that you should be yourself with someone, which I really loved.

I sped through this, and if you're a fan of this series, I have no doubt you'll enjoy it. If this is your first foray into this series, I think you'll be left wanting to dive into all the others.

Rex Gunderson.

To say I wanted to gut the guy with a spoon is an understatement. HUGE one.

And that feeling lasted through all the books until The Coaching Hours. I still wanted to gut him a few times, but by the end of the book I did look at him a bit more kindly, so when it was announced that he’d actually be getting a little something I was intrigued and I have to say this was a great, quick read.

I won’t say that Rex is my fav DB, that honor is still Z’s, but I can’t deny that I actually like the guy now. He’s pulled his head out of his ass, became the Funcle and is a pretty cool guy when everything was said and done. And Hannah, well this girl is all kinds of fun. She’s definitely comfortable in her own skin ~ for the most part. And I loved them together.

Me gusto.

The Teaching Hours is a novella in the How to Date a Douchebag series. It was also part of sports romance collection.   I never read it in the Team Player #2 collection but I am going to assume nothing was added or changed since it's listed as novella within this series.

I really enjoyed this quick and fresh college romance. I am sure that many romance readers would want more  from this story, but I think Sara did this book right.  These kids are in college and truly wanting to have fun.  Neither Rex or Hannah are ready to settle down.

Rex returns to the college area to assist with wrestling team.  Hannah just wants to find someone that can hold their own against her (also not get offended by her mouth).  When these two meet through a dating app and both surprise one another when they meet in person.

This is a real quick college romance read.  Sara leaves it open for more to possibly happen down the line (or not)..  They're in college!!  This book couldn't be any more realistic if she tried and I love Sara all the more for that.  This is the perfect chance to see why everyone enjoys Sara's writing and her characters.

The former class clown becomes the teacher in Sara Ney’s latest instalment in The Douchebag series. If you remember well, Rex Gunderson was the team manager to our favourite bunch of wrestlers, that was until he got himself fired by making a silly bet involving the coach’s daughter.

Rex is back on campus and finds himself on the popular student body dating app. He matches with Hannah, roommate to Skylar from The Lying Hours. Although they quickly write of any chance of romance between themselves, Rex enthusiastically takes on the role of her dating coach. Hannah’s style is hapless as it is tactless, but Rex is adamant he can help her bag a man.

They develop an easy rapport and persistently tease one another. It’s not long before their thoughts are on one another rather than readying Hannah to enter the dating world. Their blossoming romance was a cute one, and I enjoyed innocent quality to it.

Rex had always comes across as immature and irritating so it was a very nice surprise to meet the new improved version. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still Rex, but this time there is an endearing quality to him that was missing before.

Oh did I love being back in the Douchebag world! Sara Ney is a master storyteller whose writing is romcom crack! In her latest How to Date a Douchebag delight, The Teaching Hours, Ney delivers another laugh-out-loud, thigh-clenching, heart-thumping time that had me craving more. This novella packs a punch—oozing with heat, humor, and heart—and is everything I want and need in a romcom.

Rex is back!!! He’s a bit older and wiser but still all the funny. This tale is a test for Rex to be a gentlemen. Playing teacher, he is to transfer his wisdom to a sassy student who is trying to ditch her douchebag ways.

Nerdy is indeed the new sexy.

Oh does this heroine bring the sarcasm and sass. This heroine is a fire breathing dragon. This heroine is my spirit animal.
Awkward. Check.
Sarcastic. Check
Witty. Check
Inappropriate word vomit at inappropriate times. Check, check, check.

”I want to be sweet for you.”

Prepare to be charmed and captivated by The Teaching Hours, a fresh, flirty, funny, fire-hot, and feel-good romance. I devoured this delight in one sitting and wanted this story to continue. This series is simply EPIC! Each book in the How to Date a Douchebag collection is as unique as it is enthralling and entertaining. It’s a series every romance lover must read. Pure addiction.

💋💋💋💋 sweet and sassy kisses

„Let me explore how I feel about you.”

I’m completely obsessed with Sara Ney’s HTDAD series and Rex Gunderson was a constant part of this world. I’m thrilled that Sara decided to give him his own HEA. But who could tame the biggest jerk on the planet? Well, apparently the bigger one, that’s who!

This novella shows perfectly how Rex has changed after graduation. He’s not so bad now, I’d even say that he’s really cute, and it looks like he’s well equipped to teach a girl he randomly met on a dating app, how to land a man. His interactions with Hannah were hilarious and the anticipation how their acquaintance will evolve made me glued to the pages. It was funny to read about a female dbag for a change. Rex met his match, for sure!

Quick, funny and adorable read that melted my heart!

What a short and playful little treat for fans of Sara Ney's Douchebag series! Anyone who has followed the series from the start is familiar with Rex, wrestling manager and douchebag in his own right. Throughout the series, we saw him change and evolve, becoming a better person and worthy of his own love story. This quick, fun novella shows Rex moving forward and finding the potential for love with his own heroine.

I'll be honest - if you're not already a fan of the series, this novella isn't a great starting point. It's a light and fun BONUS to the series, not a full-fledged love story. There are definitely some funny moments, and I loved that Rex got his redemption, but a true romance it is not. We see Rex and his leading lady meet (loved the use of texting to tie it into the rest of the series) and go on a non-date, but we don't see them fall in love. I do think they're a great match - Rex is adorkable and strangely charming, and his heroine is outspoken and abrasive, so they're an interesting mix. Honestly, I would've enjoyed a full-length story, but I was just happy to see Rex growing.

It's cute, it's fun, it's quick. Don't go into this expecting a full-length novel and you'll be happy with the story. I just loved revisiting a beloved series and getting to know a character a little better. It makes a nice addition to the series and I devoured it in about an hour, so it's undeniably successful in that way. Would I change some of the plot if it was a full novel? Definitely. But for what it is, it was great. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review of this rom com novella.

I can't believe Sara got me to fall for Rex Gunderson!!

I will have to confess before I read this novella, I still had a pretty strong dislike for Rex. Mind you, my reading of the series had been interrupted in book 4 when I suspect he might have gotten some of his redemption since he's now the funcle to Elliott & Annabelle's daughter. I certainly didn't see that coming.

And Hannah is hilariously awkward and so perfect for Rex.

He has definitely changed. And thank goodness for that! I loved the chemistry and interaction with Hannah.

I definitely have some catching up to do.

Rex has definitely become a loveable douchebag. I am completely won over.

I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Rex is back to help with the wrestling team and he is just as much fun as ever but with a new found maturity that only makes him that much more appealing. When he meets Hannah on the college dating app he is intrigued by her and agreed to become her dating teacher.

Hannah has no filter and she tends to speak first and think second which hasn’t boded well for her interactions with men. Getting some help from Rex, who is very comfortable when it comes to dating, might be just what she needs as long as the teacher and the student don’t fall for each other.

Both Rex and Hannah are such fun characters and their interactions are filled with humor and heat.

I have been waiting for Rex to have his day and it. finally. came!!!
I adored Rex in all his adorkable sweetness with Hannah and I adored Hannah in all her bumbling straightforwardness with Rex.
I was all into the book and then I saw the words The End and was legit confused 🤔. Somewhere along the way I missed the fact this was a novella and was immediately devastated. I would’ve much preferred Rex to have his full story told; he deserved it after the bad rap he got. Sigh 😐. This really should’ve been a complete book 😔
