The Hospitality Careers Academy in Athens, Georgia offers an exciting summer program tailor-made for high school students keen on exploring the world of hospitality, food & beverage, and tourism. This week-long experience is packed with engaging activities such as listening to industry experts, job shadowing, industry tours, team-building exercises, and leadership development opportunities.

One of the standout features of the program is the capstone project, where students get to put their newly acquired skills to the test by organizing a real event for over 300 guests. Guided by experienced mentors, participants will have the chance to create and execute this event, offering a valuable hands-on learning experience.

The upcoming session is scheduled to take place from June 23 to June 27. Student selection is based on a competitive process involving a completed application, a 1000-word essay or a 5-minute video, three letters of recommendation, and a personal interview. The Academy is seeking aspiring leaders with a passion for the hospitality industry.


To join this enriching program, a program fee of $600 is required upon acceptance into the Academy. This fee covers accommodations at The Hyatt Place in Athens, Georgia for the duration of the program, meals, and training sessions conducted by industry professionals. Participants can also seek sponsorship for the program, with sponsors receiving recognition during the capstone project.


To apply, make sure to complete all the necessary steps by the extended deadline of May 2, 2024, at 5 pm. Remember to submit all required documents as PDFs, including your latest school transcript with a minimum GPA of 2.5, three letters of recommendation, your resume, and the essay or video showcasing your enthusiasm for the hospitality industry and how this Academy can support your career aspirations. Upon completion of your application, you will receive a confirmation of submission and be contacted for interview scheduling.
