Professionally managed events should be allowed to operate on Oahu.

Professionally managed live events are proven to be safer than restaurants, luaus, water parks, attractions, gyms, and other businesses allowed to operate under the Safe Access Oahu program.

Using the Hawaii Department of Health’s own cluster data, it is clearly shown that not one reported cluster can be traced back to any professionally operated event.

Professionally managed events are different than casual gatherings.  They are controlled and operate under strict COVID-19 safe guidelines.

The ban is creating an untenable hardship on businesses and is threatening the survival of a whole industry.  It is putting thousands out of work who have no safety net.  Unemployment has run out along with federal support programs. Banning professionally managed events creates a massive revenue loss to the community in dollars spent in our communities and unrealized tax dollars.

We can operate events for the community in a safe manner without worsening the health crisis.  The Oahu Wedding Association and The Hawaii Events Coalition have worked diligently to develop and institute safe COVID-19 protocols that ensure safety for our employees, our guests and our communities. LET US WORK for the community.

Let our misguided Governor know that he and his advisors are making a grave mistake in banning such events.
