This is a 7-hour training course, divided into two afternoon sessions. This course is designed for anyone who provides support for youth in their professional or personal life. The course was developed for people who are not disability specialists but who are likely to encounter children with disabilities such as educators, social workers, service coordinators, foster family agencies, resource parents, state and county staff, probation staff, and parent partners. The course is designed to give participants an overview of intellectual and developmental disabilities terminology, dispel common misconceptions, and provide information about different services and supports that children may need to be successful. In addition, this training will work to strengthen our cross-system collaboration as part of a county child and youth system of care, by having partner agencies join together in the training.
