Liverpool FC: Power Ranking the Top 10 Celebrity Liverpool Fans

0 of 10

The fanbase surrounding Liverpool Football Club is immense. It consists of several hundred million people and stretches all the way across the world. That is no secret.

Perhaps a little more secretive are the allegiances of several high-profile football fans. A number of them carry Liverpool in their heart.

These are the best of the best.

10. Dr Dre

1 of 10

    Rapper

The 46-year-old hip-hop artist has apparently always been a massive Liverpool fan. That became very clear in his 2011 interview with the official club website.

The American showed his knowledge in the interview, noting the importance of defeating Manchester United and declaring his favourite player to be Michael Owen. "Whoa," he said.

9. John Bishop

2 of 10

    Comedian

John Bishop was born and bred in the Liverpool area and has been a Reds fan his whole life.

Having spent time with several semi-professional clubs early in his life, Bishop never made the big time in terms of footballing. That said, he he did appear at the Hillsborough Memorial Game for the Liverpool Legends team. Like Howard, he is well known for his willingness to offer his expert opinion on the club's management. Football remains his favourite hobby.

8. Daniel Craig

3 of 10

    Actor

It is no secret James Bond is a massive fan of the Reds. Despite having grown up in the greater Manchester area, actor Daniel Craig has been spotted several times taking in the action at Anfield. Whenever he has time off, Craig does his best to visit Liverpool and try to catch a game. There are even rumours of 007 having split up with a former girlfriend over his love for the club. Honestly put, it has to be worth it.

7. Mike Myers

4 of 10

    Actor

Canadian comedy actor Mike Myers was born in Scarborough, Ontario in 1963 to World War II Veterans from Liverpool. He is a football-lover and has appeared in a series of charity matches.

Myers gained controversy in 2010 when he and an actor-to-be-named were involved in a campaign against then-Liverpool owner Tom Hicks. Austin Powers claimed he was trying to save the club. For now, it appears he might have done so.

6. Sven-Göran Eriksson

5 of 10

    Football Manager

Former England boss Sven-Göran Eriksson emerged as a Liverpool boss after admitting to being a life-long Reds fan in the wake of Rafael Benitez's departure. "I have been a Liverpool fan all my life. Everyone wants to be a Premier League manager."

This sparked rumours of him being headhunted by the Reds. They proved to be incorrect, as Liverpool chose first Roy Hodgson then Kenny Dalglish for the spot.

That said, it wouldn't be surprising to see Eriksson at the helm at Anfield at some time or another, whether it be as a manager or potentially as an assistant to Dalglish. His most recent involvement with the club? Signing bust Paul Konchesky to his club Leicester City in July 2011.

5. Angelina Jolie

6 of 10

    Actress

Granted, it has never been officially proven that Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie is a Reds fan. That said, two of her children, Maddox and Shiloh, are huge Liverpool fans, and it would be surprising if that didn't at least have something to do with their Brangelina parents. She has in the past been reported to have a 'fondness' for the Anfield club. As long as we hold a special place in her heart, we'll hold her in ours.

4. LeBron James

7 of 10

    Basketball Player

From a financial standpoint, Miami Heat star Lebron James has to be a Liverpool fan. In the spring, he secured a minority stake in the club from their US owners and essentially became a part of the team's backbone. He wanted to expand and become a businessman in sports, and by acquiring his share, he did that. There is no way he doesn't root for them now.

3. Samuel L Jackson

8 of 10

    Actor

Samuel L Jackson, a well known footballing fan, fell in love with Liverpool when filming his 2001 movie "The 51st State" in the Merseyside city. The American 'Snakes on a Plane' actor was the man who, along with Mike Myers, vocally endorsed a change of ownership at the helm of the club in 2010, and he has continued to be a fan of the club.

2. Caroline Wozniacki

9 of 10

    Tennis Player

Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki is a huge Liverpool fan. She has family ties in football (her brother is a professional) and often declares her love for the club on Twitter. The affair became world famous when, on the 24th of February this year, she donned a signed Steven Gerrard shirt for the warmups of her Qatar Open semi-final. Reds fans have loved her ever since.

1. Nelson Mandela

10 of 10

    Politician

When the Reds squad of 1994 toured South Africa, they met the South African Apartheid conquerer and then-president. John Barnes, the captain, presented Mandela with a Liverpool shirt. Mandela responded by confessing to him that he was a lifelong Liverpool fan. We can only assume that that love for the club lives on to this day. He is now 93 years old.
