KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Xavier Feliciano (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) completed a sweep of Kutztown University's annual awards, Wednesday, when he was named the 2020-21 KU Male Athlete of the Year.
Feliciano won Male Senior Athlete of the Year last month and is the first KU male student-athlete to capture both awards in an academic year since football's Jordan Morgan in 2016-17.
Though the Golden Bears only had an outdoor season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Feliciano produced a top-three finish in the pole vault in his final six meets of the season, including victories at the Moravian-hosted Coach P Invitational, April 17, and the West Chester-hosted Last Dance Invitational, May 1.
After having the 2020 PSAC Outdoor Championships canceled, the senior from Kennett Square, Pa., returned to the conference meet and finished runner-up by clearing 15-feet, 0.25-inches (4.58m) for his second career All-PSAC honor on the outdoor circuit (third in 2019).
Feliciano eclipsed a NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships provisional qualifying mark during the 2021 season at 15-feet, 9.25-inches (4.81m) during the WCU Last Dance Invitational, which ranked 47th nationally. He held the second-highest pole vault mark in the Atlantic Region this past season to earn All-Atlantic Region honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Over the course of his career, Feliciano was a highly-accomplished vaulter. He was a 2020 Indoor All-American, the 2020 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) indoor champion, a three-time all-region performer and a four-time conference medalist. He ranks fifth in KU indoor program history with a top vault of 16-feet, 4.50-inches (4.99m) and ninth all-time outdoors at 15-feet, 9.25-inches (4.81m).
Feliciano graduated from Kutztown this past May with a degree in criminal justice. He is the eighth student-athlete with ties to the track & field program to claim the KU Male Athlete of the Year award since 1987.
