NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Though its 2020-21 season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, it didn't deter the Kutztown University women's bowling team from another impressive year of academic achievement. The Golden Bears were named an All-Academic Team by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) and 11 bowlers earned All-Academic Scholar-Athlete accolades.
Kutztown finished the year with a 3.30 team GPA, exceeding the NTCA's standard of 3.2 for inclusion on the All-Academic Team Award list. A record 59 programs were honored in 2020-21.
For the second consecutive year, the Golden Bears set a new record for individual bowlers honored, too. The previous record of 10 All-Academic Scholar-Athlete selections was eclipsed by this year's 11. To qualify for the award, student-athletes needed a 3.4 GPA or higher during the past academic year.
