Passport to Dance
  
A celebration of international dance  with five of San Diego's finest dance companies in performance. The evening begins with delicious cuisine, wine and beer for purchase while you explore the Artisan Marketplace and Opportunity Drawings. Performances include Blue Ming Chinese Dance, Flamenco Arana, Malone Academy of Irish Dance, Ni Wayan Ekarini Balinese, and LITVAKdance Company. Art by Wren Polanski. Betzi Roe Emcee. Camarada: Come Together Orchestra Project
Have you ever wanted to play in an orchestra? Here is your opportunity. Join the members of Camarada and experience a sectional and coaching by professionals on May 18 and a concert on May 19. Repertoire: Dvorak's magnificent New World Symphony and Khachaturian's spirited Sabre Dance. Participants must be at least 18 years of age or have a teacher recommendation if under 18 and be able to

This Week at Lux Art Institute
Mixed Media with Allison Renshaw. Ages 18+. Visiting artist Allison Renshaw will lead students through the use of a variety of mediums and image transfers techniques to create personal artwork. Tuesdays, May 7-June 11, 30, 10am-1pm. $270, $300. Info

A graduate of CalArts, Adam is a distinguished pianist dedicated to bringing deep insight and virtuoso fireworks to his audiences. He will perform Baroque sonatas by Scarlatti and Seixas, the Sonata in b minor by Haydn, and a selection of Romantic era pieces by the Mexican composer Melesio Morales. Italian Film Festival: La ragazza del mondo 
What happens when a Jehovah's Witness falls in love with a "worldly person"? This complicated love story takes place within the clashes between reality and the closed world of religious sects and speaks to anyone who has experienced a forbidden relationship.

LIFE Lecture: Eyewitness Testimony, When Can We Trust It
Dr. John Wixted, UCSD. Most people believe that eyewitness memory is simply unreliable. However, eyewitnesses typically provide extremely reliable evidence during the initial, uncontaminated memory test that occurs early in a police investigation. Some forensic evidence (DNA, fingerprints and eyewitness memory) is reliable.   (LIFE Club San Elijo)

West African Dance
Taught by Kiki Ogulo. Kiki grew up and has been active in the West African drum and dance community in San Diego over several decades. She will share her knowledge of the traditions and nuances. Accompanied by fabulous percussionists.

Botanical Dyes on Silk
Learn the basics of making botanical dyes and create a personalized silk scarf, while you immerse yourself in the beautiful gardens. Explore and experiment with several low-water dying techniques, including stem dying and direct application through pounding and printing.

Healing Grief Thru HeArt, Expressive Arts Workshop
For those who are experiencing grief due to the loss of a loved one. Movie Night in Glen Park: Incredibles 2
Join us for the fun family film Incredibles 2. We'll have fun activities at 6pm for the kids before the sun sets, then enjoy a night under the stars and a fun movie for all ages (approx 7:30 start). Concert: Music Without Boundaries
A benefit concert for the 2019 San Diego International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs. Hear beautiful piano music from Schubert and Chopin, to Mussorgsky and Kapustin, presented by a group of internationally acclaimed and local pianists including Violeta Petrova.
