National Arab American Heritage Month - Virtual Display

This guide is a virtual display of resources through the BC Library and community that celebrate, honor, and teach about Arab American Heritage.

Welcome!

Happy National Arab American Heritage Month!

April is a time for Americans to celebrate the contributions made in our country by the diverse Arab American community.

Some states have been honoring Arab American Heritage Month for decades, but an effort to make it nationwide began in 2017 with advocacy from the Arab America foundation. In 2020, Representative Rashida Tlaib of Michigan put forward House Resolution 948 to have April formally recognized as Arab American Heritage Month by the US Government. In 2021, President Joe Biden became the first sitting president to recognize April as Arab American Heritage Month, in this letter to the Arab America Foundation
