New Faculty Orientation - Fall 2019

This orientation is for new faculty beginning to teach in fall 2019, or other faculty who have not had the opportunity to attend an orientation previously. We will offer two orientations covering the same content. Please make your selection below.

In this orientation, faculty will:

1. Gain an understanding of campus practices

2. Be able to identify campus resources that support instruction

3. Begin to develop a sense of community by meeting other BC faculty, administrators, and staff

4. Identify areas in their own development that require further learning

In the Orientation, faculty will meet these outcomes by

  • Receiving a folder of a variety of instruction-related print materials from around the college
  • Participating in a series of mini-workshops led by campus resource leads to gain a broad understanding of professional rights and responsibilities: Faculty Contract, Supporting Disabled Students, Using Classroom Technology
  • Touring some areas of the campus specifically related to instruction, including the Faculty Commons, eLearning/Library, Student Services, Academic Success Center, Printing Services and Parking
  • Engaging in conversation with colleagues, including other new faculty, administrators, and staff

Light refreshments will be provided on September 9

Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided on September 10

A $100 stipend from the Office of Academic Affairs is available for participants working in academic (not Continuing Education) divisions who attend the Orientation and complete the evaluation.
