TEACH Grant - Overview
TEACH Grant - Overview The TEACH Grant, (Teacher
Education Assistance for College and Higher
Education Grant program), provides grants up
to $4,000 per year to students who intend to
teach in a high-need field in a public or private
elementary or secondary school or an educational service
agency that serves students of low-income families.
You must agree to teach in these parameters for at least four academic years within eight years of completing (or ceasing to be enrolled in) the program for which you received your TEACH Grant.
If you are in your first undergraduate or post-baccalaureate (non-degree) program, you can receive up to $4,000 per year, up to $16,000 aggregate.
If you are a graduate student, you can receive up to $4,000 per year, $8,000 aggregate.
The TEACH Grant can be prorated for less than full-time enrollment.
A TEACH Grant award, when combined with other assistance, cannot exceed your cost of attendance.
Eligibility requirements include:
• Complete the FAFSA.
• Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
• Enroll in a college or university that participates in the TEACH Grant Program.
• Enroll in a TEACH-Grant-eligible program.
• Meet certain academic achievement requirements.
