In this two-day WIDA Español Academy educators link the pedagogical foundations of Marco de los estándares del desarrollo auténtico del lenguaje español de WIDA (Marco DALE) to the instruction of bi/multilingual students. With a focus on validating and uplifting the bilingual experience, educators engage in conversations and activities that build on the standards framework and its related resources. Day two features a local school visit to observe pedagogical foundations like multiliteracies and transculturalism in action within a dual language bilingual education program. This academy will be delivered in Spanish.
WIDA Español invites educators serving bi/multilingual learners of Spanish to an academy centered on afirmando la experiencia bilingüe con el Marco DALE. El Marco de los estándares del desarrollo auténtico del lenguaje español de WIDA (Marco DALE) guides the teaching of Spanish language development in grades K-12 within a bilingual education context. Through an interactive and application-focused approach, participants link the pedagogical foundations of Marco DALE to curriculum planning while engaging in meaningful conversations and activities that build on the framework, as well as related resources. Al completar el taller, los participantes habrán adquirido estrategias para el desarrollo de guías curriculares y recursos para la instrucción del español utilizando el Marco DALE.
Hosted in the language-rich community of Albuquerque, New Mexico, la academia explorará el Marco DALE y combinará el aprendizaje con una visita a una escuela con un programa de doble lenguaje para observar fundamentos pedagógicos como el transculturalismo y las multiliteracidades.

Location
After considering several locations in the U.S. to host this academy on Marco DALE, this WIDA Español academy will be hosted in Albuquerque, New Mexico. “The Land of Enchantment” is well known for its strong history of bilingual education programs, which are a reflection of the diverse community of students and families that reside in the area. Academy participants will enjoy an enriching experience while visiting Alburquerque!
WIDA Español will host this academy at the Embassy Suites in Albuquerque, New Mexico. WIDA has made arrangements to ensure that all registered attendees are able to book their stay at the same hotel where we will host the event at a group rate. On day two of the academy, all registered attendees will visit a local dual language school to observe the implementation of pedagogical foundations, such as transculturalismo and multiliteracies. Accommodations and Travel
Once you complete your registration, you will receive a confirmation email with information so you can make your own hotel arrangements at the academy’s venue. All hotel booking and charges are the responsibility of the registered participant.
WIDA Español is not able to assist with educators’ travel arrangements to and from the event. All registered participants are responsible for booking their transportation or flights to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and all travel to and from the meeting venue.
Note: WIDA Español will provide transportation for all registered participants to and from the academy’s venue (hotel) to the local school for our group’s visit on Wednesday, March 6. If participants wish to depart and head home directly from the school without returning to the hotel, that is certainly an option, and would require the participant to arrange travel from the school.

The price of the academy is $350.00 USD per educator.
