Truly was the first girl who ever turned me down.
The first female friend I ever had.
And she might just be the first woman I ever fall in love with.
When an emergency means she needs my help running her family’s charity, I’m happy to introduce her to the glitz and glamour of the London business world—taking her to dinners, coaching her through speeches, zipping up the sexy evening gown I helped her pick out.
The more time we spend together, the more I want to convince her I’m not a man to avoid, that we’re not as unsuited as she believes.
She sees herself as the book-reading, science-loving introvert while I’m the dangerous, outgoing, charmer.
She thinks I love parties and people whereas she prefers pajamas and a takeaway.
What she doesn’t realize is that I like everything about her–the way her smile lights up a room, how her curves light up my imagination, and especially the way her lips taste when coated with tequila.
She’s the first woman I ever fell in love with. I just need to know if she could ever love me too.
A standalone novel.

International, Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author, Louise Bay writes sexy, contemporary romance novels - the kind she likes to read. Each novel is stand-alone.
Ruined by bonk-busters and sexy mini-series of the eighties Louise loves all things romantic. There's not enough of it in real life so she disappears into the fictional worlds in books and films.
Louise loves the rain, the West Wing, London, days when she doesn't have to wear make-up, hanging out with her kid, being with friends, elephants and champagne.

Truly has always been the Yin to her sisters Yang. They each have areas in which they excel and Truly is perfectly satisfied staying in her box. But when her sister has to take a step back from their foundation and fundraising and speech giving Truly has to step up. Something she has always allowed her sister to excel in as she is just not good at it. At all. So when her brother-in-law suggests that Noah step in and help Truly with her confidence and fundraising she can't say no - even if spending more time with him, in close proximity is the last thing her heart needs.
Noah is not a guy who commits long term to relationships. While not really a player, he isn't commitment centric. But when he spends time in Truly's company again he remembers how close they were before he left for the States and is definitely ready to rekindle their friendship - and maybe even more.
Romantic & sweet, steamy and a little angsty this was another great read from a must-read author for me. Enjoy!
Shane East and Saskia Maarlaveld were excellent as always. They were perfect:
Shane was the perfect Billionaire British “playboy” Noah.
Saskia portrayed the career focused introvert Truly perfectly, who had a massive crush on her gorgeous and successful friend Noah who has a reputation for being a playboy.
Noah doesn’t see himself that way. He’s just not interested in a relationship.
Truly needs help with running hers and her twin sisters charity and Noah steps in and while he’s always enjoyed Truly’s friendship he soon can’t deny how attracted he is towards her and the chemistry they share and so begins their sweet journey on the way to their HEA.
This was a fun slow-burn but steamy AF and full swoon romance and Louise knows how to please her readers. She’s my unicorn author and I always look forward to all her releases.

Truly never sees herself as beautiful or outgoing like her twin sister Abigail. Truly knows she's smart with numbers and that is what she is really good at. Noah is a successful business man who sees what he wants and goes after the challenge but once he meets the challenge, he moves on to something else.
The 2 of them are thrown together when Abigail ends up being on bed rest for the last 5 months of her pregnancy and Truly has to run their charitable foundation herself. Noah decides to help her build her confidence in getting in front of donors, giving speeches and asking for donations. As the 2 spend more time together, they are very attracted to each other but Truly, being the sensible one decides that they should have a casual relationship so that she could work out her crush on Noah.
As we all know, life never goes as we all plan no matter how much we plan and how sensible we are. Noah and Truly have to realize that love and feelings are not easily controlled and explained. The 2 of them are perfect for each other but they both think don't think that because of who they are and what they want in life. It takes being apart to realize that being sensible and reasonable doesn't make the feelings go away. Noah must convince Truly that he can change and even though he is not a long term focused kind of guy, he does want Truly to be with him.
This is such a great story about 2 individuals who are way smart in their careers and real life but when it comes to feelings and love, it is not something that the can control even though they try. Another great story from Ms. Bay!

Truly has had a secret crush on Noah her sisters husbands best friend since they first met years ago at their wedding. Knowing Noah's reputation of being a player Truly does all she can to protect her heart by keeping Noah as a friend, but the night before Noah is scheduled to leave to New York things almost changed - but then didn't. Now Noah is back and Truly needs him to help her navigate through how to present herself and be social as part of her and her sister's fundraising business. You see Truly is a numbers girl and is most comfortable behind a keyboard or at home with a good book, but with her sister out of commission for a while Truly needs to step up and Noah is there to help. Now if Truly can protect her heart as she learns what she can from the sexiest man she has ever met things will be ok - or will it.
Noah has been gone for 4 years building his company in New York but after selling it off and becoming a multimillionaire he returns to London richer and with a lot of time on his hands. Reconnecting with his best friend and his wife he sees Truly again who is as beautiful as she was before. She is also unassuming and a little bit of a recluse so when he is asked to help her with their company he does so willingly and as he spends more time with her he finds himself wanting her more and more. He is not sure if a relationship is what he wants or can have especially when Truly keeps him at arm's length.
I really enjoyed Noah and Truly I thought their friendship felt authentic and natural. Told in dual POV's we get to see both sides of the story from each MC which I love. The story is fastpaced with great dialog and story development. It feels a little short for me with the characters themselves - while I like Truly and Noah it sometimes felt a little disconnected - especially with Truly. Her self deprecating got a little old for me over time to the point where I wanted to shout that she is beautiful and to be ok with it. I think at the end Noah did show her how beautiful she is - it just took a long time to get there. Overall I did end up liking Truly and Noah and their story which is why I give it 4 stars.
