Tribulation Saints and ‘The Mark’

Tribulation Saints and ‘The Mark’ By – Jack Kinsella
Vol: 29 Issue: 29 Wednesday, November 29, 2017

I received an email from a member asking, “Upon what grounds will a believer be saved during the Tribulation Period?” It was an intriguing question, one that we’ve not touched upon in any great detail in previous discussions.

My correspondent framed his question around the acceptance of the Mark of the Beast and a ‘paradox’ he sees facing those who might accept it under coercion.
Specifically, he asked,

“During the Tribulation, if a “believer” is threatened with the choice between either taking the Mark upon himself, or becoming “responsible” for a horrendous evil act otherwise aimed upon their child, doesn’t a feasible scenario present itself whereby a believer may choose to take the Mark. How can these two apparent “truths” occur coincidentally, and form a contradiction?”

Another excellent question. Researching the answers was most illuminative, and I thank my correspondent for posing them. At the same time, the answers themselves are among those ‘hard sayings’ of Scripture.

Let’s go with the Mark first.

The Mark of the Beast is not merely an economic medium of exchange, like a debit or credit card, although it will incorporate that function. If that were all there was to it, my correspondent’s paradox would be valid.

The Mark of the Beast is first and foremost a worship system. So now, we have crossed over from the material to the spiritual.

“And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not WORSHIP the image of the beast should be killed.” (Revelation 13:15)

The Mark is a symbol of membership in the ‘church’ of antichrist, and among the privileges of membership under his rule is the right to life, a form of liberty and the right to pursue a form of economic happiness.

But the Bible makes plain that no man can serve two masters.

To the question of whether or not accepting the Mark to save a life is paradoxical, James answers that question with a question of his own:

“For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” (James 4:14)

There are two distinct and separate understandings of ‘life’ at work here. There is our understanding of life, under which one might be tempted to take the Mark of the Beast, say, to save one’s child.

Then there is God’s understanding of life. Physical life is granted to us so that we can choose where we will spend eternity.

Since the main purpose in the spiritual sense for our physical existence is to exercise that choice, the choice we make is of far greater importance than the physical existence that provides the opportunity to choose.

Is the Bible specific concerning the choice to accept the Mark of the Beast and worship his image?

“And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” (Revelation 14:9-11)

There is no paradox here. The choice is the same as it has always been. It was the same choice that Joshua offered the children of Israel more than three thousand years ago.

“And if it seem evil
http://www.omegaletter.com/admin/tinymce/themes/advanced/langs/en.js
unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:15)

During the early persecution of the Church, many martyrs were given the choice between worshipping Caesar or seeing their entire families thrown to the lions.

Those who accept a martyr’s death are promised a crown, but nowhere does the Bible grant an exemption for those who reject Jesus, coercion notwithstanding. Not in the Church Age, and not during the Tribulation.

“Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.” (Luke 17:33)

The second question asks, “Upon what grounds will a believer be saved during the Tribulation?” The short answer would appear to be, “the same grounds upon which believers are saved during the Church Age” — salvation by grace through faith. But that isn’t exactly accurate.

During the Tribulation, God’s grace, as we understand it in this Dispensation, is withdrawn. The Age of Grace concludes with the Rapture. The Tribulation Period is the final, unfulfilled week of the Age of the Law.

Revelation Chapter 7 describes an event so unique that Jesus devotes an entire chapter to its discussion. It describes a special ‘sealing’ of “the servants of our God in their foreheads.” (Revelation 7:3) These ‘servants of God’ are twelve thousand Jewish male virgins chosen from each of the twelve tribes of Israel — 144,000 in all.

They are sealed in a miraculous manner, by the direct intervention of God, in exactly the same way Church Age believers are, through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus was sealed by the Holy Spirit.

“And Jesus, when He was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon Him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:16-17)

Church Age believers are sealed. “. . . in Whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.” (Ephesians 1:13)

The sealing work of the Holy Spirit is the basis for our eternal security during the Church Age. Among the spiritual benefits of being sealed by the Holy Spirit are:

1) Men receive courage to rebuke sin: Matt. 3:8

2) Men are enabled to speak with confidence: Acts 4:31-33

3) Gives spiritual and moral strength: 2 Samuel 22:40Isaiah 28:26Isaiah 40:31;41:10Daniel 11:32Ephesians 3:16

4) Provides strength in weakness: 1 Corinthians 1:272 Corinthians 12:913:4

5) Provides spiritual gifts: Romans 12:6Ephesians 4:11

Returning to the question at hand, the 144,000 evangelists are sealed by the Holy Spirit to empower them as evangelists during the Tribulation Period, because it is only through the conviction of the Holy Spirit that men can be saved.

The doctrine of eternal security is due to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in all believers during the Age of Grace.

During the final Week of the Age of the Law, the universal ministry of the Holy Spirit is withdrawn. (2nd Thessalonians 2:7)

He then indwells believers only selectively, as He did during David’s time, when David cried out, “Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.” (Psalms 51:11)

There will be believers in the Tribulation who will succumb to the antichrist’s coercion and accept his mark to save their families. And Scripture is clear that those who do are forever lost.

Tribulation believers will be saved by faith in Christ and enduring until the end, as in the Church Age, but without the guarantee of eternal security or the automatic indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus described the tribulation as, “such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”

He warned that, “except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” (Matthew 24:21-22)

It is our job on this side of the Tribulation to give the warning of what is to come. It is coming. And it is coming soon.

Our blessed hope is found in the Scripture’s promise that Jesus comes for His Church first.

“Wherefore, comfort one another with these words.” (1st Thessalonians 4:18)

I Thought I Saw It Coming
Vol: 29 Issue: 1 Wednesday, November 1, 2017

It is incredible, yet true. We are witnessing the unfolding of events long prophesied to take place during the last generation before the return of Christ.  We knew that it was coming – we were almost eager to see this day because it means the Rapture is that much closer.

But as the day approaches, it becomes less an abstract notion and more a crushingly painful reality.  It has made that transition from theoretical possibility to actual fact.   We always knew in theory that one day Christians would be marginalized to the point of insignificance.

We always knew that one day, some new religion having two horns like a lamb but speaking as a dragon would overspread Planet Earth.   For decades we’ve made a guessing game out of what it would look like and who would be its leader.

As we see the hard-and-fast answers crowding out our best guesses, the game isn’t as much fun as it used to be.  In fact, it isn’t any fun at all, anymore.

This IS what we’ve been expecting.  It is what the Bible forecast for the last days.  Jesus said the Tribulation Period would be a time so terrible that if He didn’t return to put a stop to it, there would be no flesh saved out of it.

So it is entirely reasonable to expect that the period leading up to it would be, ah, unpleasant, to say the least. Jesus prophesied that the time will come when those who kill you will think they do God service.

He reminded us that the world MUST hate us because it hates Him  – but that doesn’t make it any easier when it happens.

There are two competing sets of values here and it is out of that conflict that all the angst arises.  If we are where I believe that we are on Bible prophecy’s timeline, then America’s (and the West’s) days are numbered.

If we are where I believe we are, then the decline we are experiencing is both inevitable and unstoppable.   This is only part of the Big Picture – there are other, bigger and scarier parts yet to come.

Why are they scarier today than they were, say, ten years ago?   It isn’t as if Bible prophecy changed in the last ten years.   What we are experiencing is the realization of our expectations.   Did anybody really think that witnessing the unfolding of last days’ prophecy would be fun?

If you did, now you know.

You also know why you were but one of only a tiny handful of ‘prophecy nuts’ in your church.  I say ‘were’ because as we move forward on the Bible timeline, prophecy doesn’t seem so nuts anymore.

In the grand scheme of things, very few Christians in these last days have been called as watchmen.  Even fewer have responded to the calling.  It’s not for everybody — for some it is too much.  That is why we are necessary – to give the warning.

God has set each of us in the place He wants us to be for this time and place in human history.  That doesn’t mean it is a pleasant place – we had our pleasant time. But God in His wisdom, and for reasons known only to Him, has called us – you and me and others like us – as witnesses.

He promises a special crown for us at the Bema Seat.  There are only FIVE crowns and this is one of them.  So what made you think that earning it would be easy?  It is supposed to be hard.  Out of all the living Christians on this planet, God called YOU to bear witness for all those too afraid to look.

Yes, it is frustrating.  Yes, it is infuriating.  Yes, it is frightening.  And YES – it is unfair. Why can’t YOU be one of those Christians just strolling through life, tra-la-la-la-la, in blissful ignorance?

I dunno. Because you can’t.  God called you and you answered the phone.  Sorry.  This is a bell that you can’t unring.   Read through your assignment again — note in particular the parts in italics.

I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom;  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” (2nd Timothy 4:1-5)

Somebody has to watch in all things, do the work of an evangelist and make full proof of the ministry to which God called them. That’s the charge.  You accepted it — or you wouldn’t be reading these words now.

Now the evil days are upon us and somehow, we are surprised to find we don’t like it.   I am not saying that sarcastically – I am as surprised as anybody at how surprised I am, if you can follow my drift.

I thought I was made of sterner stuff than that.

So, what are we to do as Christians?  Our job.  Be witnesses.  Watch and observe and give the warning.  You know, the Bible says that Noah preached for one hundred and twenty years and never made a single convert.

But when the rains came down, Noah still got to ride out the storm in the ark.

It is easy to become discouraged, frustrated and even angry.  It’s natural.  But it is part of a plan that the God of the Universe has not only let you in on, He has included you as a necessary part.

“Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” (Jude 1:24-25)

He can keep you from falling.  He will present you faultless before the Throne with exceeding joy.  He knows what He is doing, and He has let you in on some of the details.

Here’s what we know —  and we know it for sure.  There is lots to be scared of.  But nothing to be worried about. Because He is able.  And He loves you more than you know.

Maranatha!

Heaven From the Cesspool
Vol: 137 Issue: 28 Thursday, February 28, 2013

It’s been observed that, ‘Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die’.  It makes you wonder – why is that?  Since the worst thing anybody can do to another human being is kill them and the most desirable outcome for any Christian is to go home to glory. . . what’s up with that, anyway?

The Bible describes heaven as a place where the streets are made from gold, and where the ‘pure river of the water of Life proceeds out from the throne of God and of the Lamb’ where there shall be no night, since God Himself with illuminate it and so on.

What kind of mental image does this give you?

To me, it sounds pretty neat, but . . . somehow, not.

Please don’t run screaming from the room screaming ‘blasphemy’ just yet – I’m not finished.  Give me a few more lines.

I recall sitting between a couple of sand dunes, surveying the wind-swept beach on one of North Carolina’s Outer Banks, watching as the breakers crashed into the pilings on the nearby pier.  The sun was shining, the breeze was warm; it was altogether an idyllic scene.

The beauty was breathtaking.  Alone with the Lord, I mused about what heaven must REALLY be like, if this wasn’t it.  Indeed, as I pointed out earlier, John’s description of heaven was, um, nice, but where I was sitting was pretty nice, too.  There were no rivers of living water, but I know that I am saved and have eternal life already.

The sand isn’t made of gold, but what value will gold have in eternity, anyway?  It will pave the streets, as common as the sand.  I like the sand.

And I LIKE the night; I’ve sat in that exact same spot at night, and when the breeze is warm and the stars are out, with the moon reflecting off the ocean it is no less idyllic than it is during the day.

I inquired of the Lord, and I began to get a bit of the Big Picture, as seen from outside of space and time.  (No, I wasn’t smoking anything and I didn’t start to hear voices).

Instead, I thought about what the Bible said about heaven, and more to the point, what the Bible says about our Big Blue Marble.

The Bible describes the fall of Lucifer, his sin, and his ejection from heaven, together with the third of the angels who rebelled with him.  When they were cast from heaven, where did they go?

The Book of Job says:

“And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.” (Job 1:7, 2:2)

It has been my experience in studying God’s Word that when He causes something to be repeated, as in this case, it is worth giving it an extra look.

When Satan and his crew cast from heaven, they were cast to the earth, what the theologians call the ‘cosmos diabolicus’ or literally, a world of evil.  To the angels, it was the worst place they could imagine — a place of involuntary and horrific exile.

Planet Earth is the one place in the universe where sin can exist without throwing the entire universe out of balance, thanks to the fact it has an environment that contains it.

Our environment, which sustains us, also contains us and keeps us from doing to the universe what we have already done to our planet.

Indeed, we managed to get to the outer fringes of our planet and what did we do?  Filled it with orbiting space junk, some of which threatens OTHER orbiting space junk, such as the international space station.

Meanwhile, back on earth . . . when the fallen angels were cast to earth, it was an astonishing drop.

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!” (Isaiah 14:12)

Assessment:

To the angels, the beautiful seaside scene I described earlier is a cesspool of sin, a place of punishment to the angels who rebelled, a place so horrible, that seen from the heavenly perspective, merely being stuck here was enough to turn Lucifer the Archangel into Satan the Destroyer.

Imagine our planet from God’s perspective.  Everything is stained by sin.  The beautiful beach scene?  Stained by sin.  The ground we walk on?  Stained by sin.

I tried to imagine that stain for what it is, and of course, I cannot.  I can only defer to the Bible’s description of sin.  It is so filthy, so repugnant, so disgusting, that God can’t bear to view it.

When God created Adam, He created a special place for him.  The Garden of Eden.  When Adam and Eve fell, they were first cast OUT of the Garden, and into the cesspool where sin was allowed to operate freely.

Jerusalem sits in the middle of the cesspool.  In the center of Jerusalem was the Temple, a place kept scrubbed of the taint of sin by the Levitical priesthood, and the Holy of Holies, a place scrubbed even more carefully.

The only place where God would commune with sinful man on this sin-stained planet was that tiny place where the muck of sin was scrubbed away as much as possible.

Until even that place became so buried in the muck and mire of sin that, after four hundred years of silence, He decided to Personally scrub it –and us — clean of it, once and for all.

Scripture says the angels were astonished that the Lord of Glory would assume human form, step out of sinless and perfect eternity, and wallow in the mire of sin with sinful humanity.  Every step for Him must have been an agony, like walking knee-deep in sewage.

“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” (Hebrews 2:9)

It is a measure of how disgusting sin is to God.  The fact it was the place God cast the rebellious angels is revealing.  To the angels, our beautiful planet earth is a leper colony.  We mortal humans are little more than bugs, willingly wallowing in the yuck of sin, yea, REVELING in it.

Yet the Scripture says that the angels are fascinated by us, and by our plight, and astonished by our unwillingness to climb out of the muck.  It amazes them that men love the world, since they see it for what it is, and have some basis for comparison between it and the things of the spirit.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with SO GREAT A CLOUD OF WITNESSES, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us . . .” (Hebrews 12:1)

“For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and TO ANGELS, and to men.” (1 Corinthians 4:9)

Scripture tells us that;

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

We cannot imagine heaven, we can only compare it to earth and all its beauty and wonderment, and realize that the earth is the universe’s garbage dump.  Heaven is like the Bible describes it; but it is much more.

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)

What IS death, that we fear it?  In a word, separation.  Death separates us from our loved ones.  Death takes our loved ones from us, separating us from them until eternity.

Sin is a form of death. It separated the fallen angels from fellowship with God.  It separates the unsaved from God.  Revelation 20:14 speaks of the Great White Throne Judgment in which unbelievers are cast into the Lake of Fire as ‘the second death’ — a second – and permanent separation.

Sin separates us from God, our sin nature blinds us to that fact and so we love the world, and thereby astonish the angels.  Picture the nastiest, gooeyest, smelliest substance you can think of, and imagine being in it up to your neck.  From the angelic perspective, that’s where we are, and most of us are loving it, until we get saved.

Jesus said,

“Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” (Luke 15:10)

The angels know what that sinner has just escaped from.

Jesus also describes what we become in eternity in Luke 20:36,

“Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.”

Paul tells us that we will receive new, immortal bodies.

“And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.” (1 Corinthians 15:49-50)

What is heaven like?  I don’t know.

But I know what a beautiful, sunny day, a warm ocean breeze and the sights and sounds of the waves as they gently break on the shore is like.

And compared to heaven, it’s a cesspool.

To the angels, it is a place of exile, a leper colony, a place where the fallen angels were sent to await their fate at the Great White Throne. Our ‘beautiful’ planet is the angelic ‘hell’ to which they were cast to await sentencing to the Lake of Fire.

But we will be ‘equal to the angels’ says the Lord, in our immortal, sin-free bodies, and equal to the angels in understanding just HOW evil and repugnant this place really is, from the perspective of the spirit.

Why is it, then, that everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die?

Because if we knew what awaits us there, we’d all jump off a cliff tomorrow.

garden-of-eden

Ye Shall Be As Gods

When a team hits on a winning tactic, then logic dictates that it should continue to use that tactic as long as it remains effective. Team Satan is no exception.

Way back in the Garden of Eden, Satan set the standard for false doctrine, outlining in a single sentence the roots from which all heresies spring.

It began with God issuing a prohibition to Adam and Eve regarding the fruit of one particular tree in the Garden of Eden.

“And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Genesis 2:16-17)

It was a simple and straightforward prohibition — there wasn’t much room for misunderstanding. Indeed, that was the purpose of the prohibition. The choices were black and white — there was no room for shades of gray.

When the serpent came to tempt Eve, he did several things. First, he cast doubt on God’s Word; (“Yea, hath God said?”) and Eve responded by ADDING to God’s Word.

“. . . Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.” (Genesis 3:1b-3)

What God really said was:

“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Genesis 2:17)

Eve added the part about ‘touching’ it — and the rest, as they say, is history. Once God’s word has been ‘bent’ it is only a matter of time before it gets broken. Eve entered into a battle of wits without knowing she was unarmed.

Note Satan’s reply. First, he calls God a liar:

“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die . . .”

Then, to support the charge, he makes God out to be the ‘bad guy’.

“For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:3-4)

Skeptics often point to the Garden of Eden as an example of the ‘contradictions’ in Scripture. After all, God said that Adam and Eve would die the very day they broke God’s prohibition, yet Adam lived another eight hundred years.

There is no contradiction. In the first place, on the day they sinned, they died spiritually. In the second place, twice in Scripture we are told that a ‘day’ to the Lord is as a ‘thousand years’ is to us.

By that standard, neither Adam nor Eve survived that ‘day’.

Let’s examine the rest of the Lie. First, there is the promise of hidden knowledge — “your eyes shall be opened.” That leads to the second lie; that knowledge will make us little gods. And finally, as gods whose eyes have been opened, we can tell the difference between good and evil.

Good and evil are outcomes — and outcomes are known only to God. There is an old saying to the effect that ‘no good deed goes unpunished’ because oftentimes, we set out to do something good for somebody, only to have it blow up in our faces.

For example, you buy your immature teenager a new sports car. You mean it for good. (It is possible to do something stupid with good intentions — I do it all the time)

But when your teenager is killed drag racing, you realize that what you meant for good brought you nothing but evil.

Conversely, you refuse to let your teenager have a car until he is mature enough to handle the responsibility. Because he hasn’t got his own car, he gets picked up hitchhiking and is never seen again.

You meant it for good, but in both cases, the outcome was exceedingly evil.

The day that our eyes are opened to the degree that we know good from evil is the day we will stand in God’s presence. On that day, we will know just how presumptuous we were.

If it wasn’t such a tragedy, I’m sure the angels would be rolling on the floor with laughter. “Ye shall be as gods.”

You’ve gotta be kidding!

Assessment:

We touched on this topic a few days ago, but from some of my emails, there is still some misunderstanding about the point I was trying to make.

We were discussing the controversy about tongues in the modern Church era, and whether or not it is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit.

But the point wasn’t tongues, it was heresy and heresy-hunting. What is our obligation? Is it to expose the heretics by name? Is it to go among the deceived to publicly proclaim the heresy and correct their doctrinal errors?

One could make an argument from Scripture that is indeed the responsibility of every Christian. For the sake of argument, let’s assume that we are sincere in our bedrock doctrinal beliefs, even though we disagree on certain issues.

For example, you are a pretribulational Dispensationalist who believes that the Church Age concludes with the Rapture of the Church.

I, on the other hand, am just as sincerely convinced that the Rapture takes place at the conclusion of the Tribulation Period.

You’ve been in such discussions where somebody has tried to convince you that you were the heretic. How convincing was that?

You’ve got your Bible, you’ve got your verses, you’ve been down this road a million times — and you are immovable.

Are you right? Of course, you are. But are you right? (Well, you sincerely believe the answer is yes again, but you’d rather not say so out loud. After all, infallibility is what your opponent is claiming).

Here’s the rub. It is possible to be infallible for yourself in matters of doctrine — that is the definition of ‘faith’. I believe with all my heart that I am infallibly correct on matters of settled doctrine — but I also know in my heart that I am NOT infallible.

Logically, I must content myself with the understanding that the Holy Spirit IS infallible, and He has shaped my doctrinal worldview according to His purposes. I must trust Him that I can trust His leading.

The problem is, the other guy believes exactly the same thing, if he is a sincere Christian.

Now, we get to the meat of our debate. Which one of us, in this example, is the ‘little god’ whose eyes have been opened by the fruit of knowledge, so that he can tell good from evil?

If you answered, “both of us” then you’ve pretty much nailed it.

How, then, do we learn? More than that, how do we teach? After all, we learn by discussing various doctrinal differences, taking the insights of like-minded believers and comparing those insights to the Revealed Word.

Having determined our doctrinal worldview, we then teach it to others the same way we learned it ourselves. By discussing the various views and determining for ourselves which view best lines up with Scripture.

But wait! That’s what the other guy did, too. He learned his doctrine the way you did, comparing it to the Scriptures and determining which view lines up best with his understanding of the Word of God.

Having adopted his doctrine as being the correct one, like you, he feels it is necessary to correct the heresy of others for the ‘good of the Church’ — just like you.

Personally, I have absolutely no problem in pointing out doctrinal error. I do it all the time. Where I have to remember to draw the line is in claiming doctrinal infallibility.

I don’t believe that my doctrine is flawed — indeed, if I had any doubts, I wouldn’t teach it. Anymore than I would allow somebody else to teach me if I believed his doctrine was in error.

But there comes a point in a doctrinal debate where a line is crossed — where one goes from being a teacher to a dictator.

And we’ve all crossed that line at some point. No?

Have you ever reached the point where you’ve accused somebody of not being saved because they don’t agree with you? (Or, put another way, that you don’t agree with them.)

Now, WHO is it that has the authority to pronounce someone saved or lost? A little god? Or the One Who shed His Blood that men might be saved?

When Jesus sent the Apostles out to preach the Gospel, He didn’t send them out to browbeat the unwilling, but just the opposite;

“And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.” (Matthew 10:14)

“But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.” (1st Corinthians 14:38)

Many of us take the Great Commission as evidence that our eyes have been opened, and, whether we care to admit it or not, that we are as gods, knowing good from evil.

In a sense, there is truth in that, but that is only true to a limited degree.

Our eyes HAVE been opened (to our sin) we ARE as gods (by virtue of our imputed righteousness) and we know ‘good from evil’ to a limited degree: (ie., God is good, we are evil.)

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9)

But when we begin to think that WE can infallibly determine good and evil by virtue of our eyes having been opened by our understanding of Scripture, then we’ve crossed the line from heresy hunter to ‘heretic’ ourselves.

It is a fine line, but not really as fine as all that.

“Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” (1st Timothy 4:15)

Today will be the last publishing from www.omegaletter.com. But there is an upside… Jack’s briefs are not lost.

We have mentioned the Vault a few times.  In the age of information, we, as a collective, miss things. We aren’t reading to the end of the story.  Time is of the essence, I suppose. (Psalm 46:10)

THE VAULT was created in 2007 by long time member, Joel Pena.  There is a search, maps and Jack’s book, “The Last Generation”. And it all FREE. The best part is that it is not isolated to the internet.  It’s a mini download to your computer.  It’s there, on your computer, for you and your ministry, as an archive, forever!

OL’s wonderfully talented writers are working on several projects to get the Word out.

Pete has his site…https://rev310.wordpress.com/
Alf has his..http://www.zeteo316.com/
Jerry has his…http://www.theendthebook.com/
Steve has his..http://thewordwithsteve.com/
Wendy??? She is on sabbatical for now.

Several of the original OL authors are also regularly featured at Rapture ForumsRapture ReadyOlive Tree Ministries and countless others.

Towards Dad’s last days, we discussed it and I expressed he might be the Spurgeon/Moody of the 21st century.  He guffawed.

But what do I know?

Dad had a way with words that would stick in your head…”tin foil hats”… “things that are different are not the same”…”the beatings will continue until moral improves”…”the outcome belongs to God”.  They are in the Vault, and you can search them.

We saw Sukkot; God’s provision.  He set the stage with the people and the resources. We may be dark at http://www.omegaletter.com but as of yesterday THEOMEGALETTER.COM appeared, due to the forward thinking of the Vault’s creator.  It’s God’s anyway, He can name it what He wants. There was void and then there was light. (Genesis 1:1-3)

The Omega Letter Community will remain on Facebook. Patti Wiseman has done a bang up job sharing the Letters with social media and will continue doing so.

As one member pointed out, “Omega Letter Lane” was a heavenly dream of Dad’s.  It’s time to expand the neighborhood.  We love you all so much.  Seventeen years is a very long friendship.  Let’s keep in touch over at Frank’s place.

Excerpts from Jack:

God Himself issues a challenge to other so-called ‘gods’ to predict the future:

“Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob. Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.” (Isaiah 41:21-22)

Only God is omniscient, or all-knowing. God not only reveals the future, but He foretells the circumstances that conspire together to bring them about.

And, unlike false prophets like Nostradamus or Edgar Cayce, God reveals the outcomes. False prophecies might contain astonishing details about a single event, since Satan knows what he has planned. But Satan is not omniscient.

The best he can do is detail what he has planned in advance to one of his ‘prophets’. He doesn’t know how those plans will turn out. He had a plan to defeat Jesus by having Him killed by His Chosen People. Had he known the outcome, he would have planned things differently:

“Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (1st Corinthians 2:8)

God continues His challenge to the gods of this world, saying,

“Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.” (Isaiah 41:23)

God issued His challenge because He knows there are no other gods. He alone is God, and therefore, it stands to reason, that He alone is the only one who could accurately and consistently declare the end from the beginning.

“Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.” (Isaiah 41:24)  (Behold, Ye Are of Nothing..2006)

…..What should we take away from this as Christians?   Are these experiences necessarily Biblical?  Nope. I don’t think so.   I don’t even think they necessarily have to be Divine.

They could just as well be an enemy effort at lulling people into believing that salvation isn’t necessary and that everybody goes to a warm and fuzzy place.

But what we should take away from this is the certain knowledge that you aren’t a body — you have a body.  You have a brain, but your brain is not your mind — it is your mind’s container.

Your mind is the repository of your consciousness, will and emotions – this is the soul – the part that continues after death.   If your soul’s spirit has been quickened, (made alive, or what we call ‘saved’) then to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

If not, then your soul (mind, will and emotions) will be judged according to the things done in the body and cast into hell.

Hell is no fairy tale.   It is not a religious bogey-man invented by churches to keep their congregants in line.  Hell is as real as heaven.  Jesus described it as the place where “the fire is never quenched and their worm dieth not.”

Heaven is a real place, too.   It is the place where “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

As we approach the end of this present age, we are exhorted to look for the Rapture, the “Blessed Hope” when the Lord Himself will come for the Church and we will meet with the Lord in the air.

It is the hope of every believer.

But in reality, death is really just an advance ticket to the Big Show. Those already dead return with the Lord and get their resurrection bodies first.  But they are already with the Lord.

Everybody wants to go to heaven. But nobody wants to die. That’s why the Rapture’s called “The Blessed Hope.” (The Final Trip…2010)

….We are living in the last days. There is no time to bandage the walking wounded, the battle has been joined. Every soldier is desperately needed on the line.

A soldier on the line does his best, and that is all anyone can ask. Especially the One Who really KNOWS that you are doing the best you can.

And He not only understands, He made you to a specific purpose, which is why all things were lawful to Paul, but not all things were expedient.

What may appear as defeat to you from your vantage point in the action may actually be a tactical victory somewhere else up the line. Only our General knows, and He says, ‘Trust Me’.

Take heart! Don’t let the fact you are a sinner steal your victory. The only prerequisite for being a Christian is that you must be a sinner first. God has a plan for your life, and He has somebody for you to talk to.

That appointment is so important to God that He has arranged your whole life until now — just so you would be available to keep it when that appointment comes due.

Will you be there to keep it? Or will you be licking your wounds in defeat off in a corner somewhere? We’re running out of time, and the enemy’s sole focus for your life is to keep you defeated and ineffective as the hours tick down to the Final Confrontation.

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians (12:9)

Farewell to Our Beloved Omega Letter – by Alf Cengia

Farewell to Our Beloved Omega Letter – by Alf Cengia
Vol: 29 Issue: 12 Friday, October 12, 2018

As most readers are already aware, the Omega Letter website founded by Jack Kinsella is finally closing down. Here’s my fond farewell to our beloved Omega Letter.

providentially discovered Jack Kinsella and the OL some time after the events of 9-11. By that time I’d left my New Age past behind. I was still finding my footing and wondering what this world was coming to.

Ironically, I found Jack by doing an internet search for Hal Lindsey. The irony is that I’d rejected Hal’s ideas prior to becoming a New Ager. I actually bought some of his books and promptly gave them to my mother. They just happened to be an answer to her prayers. But that’s another story.

After the 9-11 wake-up call I wanted to check if Hal, the Old War Horse, was still around. From what I was seeing around me, his warnings appeared to be coming to fruition. Perhaps he wasn’t just a raving lunatic after all! Maybe I was the one who needed to read the memo.

Because of Jack’s connection to Hal my internet searches exposed me to an early version of the Omega Letter Website. It took some time before joining. However, I was immediately drawn to Jack Kinsella’s incisive commentaries and sarcastic wit.

For the longest time I read all the free briefings. Finally, I couldn’t get enough and became an OL member. One of my most touching memories happened after my first comment. An older Vietnam vet (Lou Talley) immediately reached out to me. Lou is now with the Lord and I still miss him.

The OL has always had a close family atmosphere. It was a secret, safe haven we could all go to; to chat with, pray for, and comfort each other. Sure there were squabbles. The Holy Spirit was there too. We always made up and blessed each other.

One thing I loved about Jack was that he allowed us to quarrel – he didn’t micro manage the forums. He’d only cut in when he felt the bickering went too far, as it sometimes did. Then he became the wise big brother who brought peace to the family.

John “Jack” Michael Kinsella went to be with the Lord on March 14 2013. I’m hopeless at recalling dates, but I know this because I still have a token of his memorial service on my desk. I’m looking at his photo as I type, and often wonder if the angels keep him informed of the goings on in this broken world. How busy would Jack be if he was still writing daily briefings!

It was a bitter-sweet honor and privilege to attend his service. Bitter because we lost Jack and missed him terribly. Yet it was sweet because Jack was now with the Lord. Jack’s family blessed me that day, and others too I bet. To this day I wish I had his family’s testimonies on video. They filled me with hope and encouragement. I’ll never forget it.

It is Well with My Soul (One of Jack’s favorite hymns).

A few of us often whimsically muse that Jack might have set up an Omega Letter Lane in Heaven. Lou is there along with other members who’ve gone to be with the Lord. They’re likely sitting down laughing, talking with the Lord, and sipping heavenly lattes, while waiting for us to join them. Oh to have an ear into those conversations!

We’re all very fortunate that the Omega Letter lasted so long after Jack’s departure to heaven. This is a testament to the commitment and dedication of his family. With all my heart, I’d like to thank Gayle, Kari, Mike and all else concerned. It takes a lot to maintain a safe website!

Kari must be applauded for her commitment to providing Jack’s past briefings on a daily basis and keeping them relevant. I thank all the writers (current and past); as well as those involved in getting the graphics done, and the social media postings. Finally, I’m very grateful for the privilege of writing for the Omega Letter over the years.

Sometimes God allows a door to close. Then He opens another one. He is sovereign and good and we must trust Him whatever happens around us. This is a hard lesson for me, so I’m not preaching – just reminding myself.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13

This world is becoming increasingly wicked – moreover the events in the Middle East suggest that the Lord may be returning soon. Let’s all pray for the church, for lost souls, keep watch and seek closer fellowship with, and commitment to, the Lord.

I’m particularly concerned about keeping in touch with members who aren’t on social media. Many don’t have churches to attend. The OL prayer forum was a place of support for them. Let’s keep in touch with each other! There’s always a chance that a future safe space will be created for fellowship.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matt 18:20

My wife, Alesia, and I have set up our own website Zeteo 3:16.  You can read our Statement of Faith HERE and our Mission Statement HERE. Those of you who aren’t on social media can reach me via our Contact Form. We can then keep in touch via e-mail etc. I can also be reached on Facebook and am happy to try to connect people to other writers and members.

Finally, I have a lot of favorite Bible verses which give me comfort. This one comes to mind right now:

But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1Cor 2:9

As one of the Omega Letter members often says, “Keep Looking up!

Maranatha!

NOTE From Frank

I’ve always considered the Omegaletter website a safe place to meet and talk with a loving group of like-minded Christians about current events and their significance in Bible prophecy without having to deal with the trolls, naysayers and the like.

It’s tiring and all but impossible to have a Christian conversation on Google, You Tube, Twitter, and Facebook etc. without all the noise and attacks and in some case even being blocked for saying something that the world hates.

We’re all going to miss the OL terribly, but it has been on my heart to have a safe place to meet.  That’s why with the help of some others have set up a website https://omegaletter.chat. The membership is by email invitation only and any of the members can invite others to join after they have been members for some number of days.  Time will work this out for the best way to handle.

It’s not going to look at all like the OL site we love, but working hard to try to keep it a safe one from those that would seek to do us harm in body and spirit. It will definitely take some time getting used to, but I hope that some of the upgrades and newer features will compensate for what we have lost on the OL, or at least make a few things tolerable, while we fulfil he great commission and longingly wait for Jesus to tell us all to “Come Up Here!”.

Please remember that it IS a work in progress, and there will be bumps along the way.

Moving forward, will try to add in some of the nice things that we have all gotten used to on the OL.  We all hate to see the Omega Letter Website go, but that does not mean we can’t keep in touch.

Since we are starting from scratch here, If you want to join, Send a message to Alf or myself on Facebook or an email to omegaletterchat@gmail.com with the email address you want to receive the invitation on.  There is NO fee to join or use.

God Bless you and look forward to seeing you there.

The Final Chapter – by J.L. Robb

The Final Chapter – by J.L. Robb
Vol: 29 Issue: 11 Thursday, October 11, 2018

In 2010, I had a “calling” to write a series of books about the last days. The calling had been there for decades, but I never heeded it. I did not know why God would be calling me to write, since I had no book writing experience and because I had been so adept at sinning.  As a Christian, I would sometimes get angry at myself; because I so often talked-the-talk but did not walk-the-walk. It is difficult.

In May of 2011, The End Part One was published; but I remember how down in the dumps I was when I wrote the final chapter. It was a lot like the day after Christmas, when I would have a “let down” feeling that it was over. I did not want it to end.

When I finished the final chapter in Part Two, the feeling was the same. The saving grace: I had another to write.

This week, I am writing the final chapter of the final book, Part Seven. It is titled The Ninth of AV and concludes with a world in disarray and on fire, wars and civil wars, a Muslim antichrist and Pope Pius XIII as the False Prophet. Only the return of Christ keeps mankind from killing everyone. Once again, I feel saddened that it will be over this week. It has been the most wonderful journey.

In reading reviews of the series on Amazon, each book is rated between 4 and 5-stars and the praise is humbling. However, there are a few negative comments that the books do not exactly follow scripture. Of course, that is true. The predictions of the major prophets, the minor prophets and the apostles concerning the last days would be beyond my capabilities to write exactly the way the scriptures are written. There is too much left for interpretation.

But my target market is not the saved, but the unsaved; not the found but the lost, like I was. I believe that God’s guidance formed my thoughts throughout to help me save at least one individual and possibly, many. The series incorporates plenty of scripture but not an overwhelming amount. Had I loaded it up with scripture; the people I want to reach would not read it.

The characters for the most part are not churchgoers. Except for Jeffrey Ross, the lead character, all the main characters are believers… sort of. They claim Christianity but have not read or studied the Bible, except for Abe the Bartender, a Messianic Jew. They go to church at Christmas and Easter, but it is more of a social event than a Holy event.

Over a period of years and a series of tragedies, these friends, mostly senior citizens begin to notice all the unprecedented events and how similar they are to stories they heard or read at church. Water turning to blood, fire falling from heaven, the rise of a sinister ruler that no one knows is sinister and all the disappearing people.

If you haven’t had a chance to read, I hope you will. You can follow the lives of Abe the Bartender, Wild Willy, Sheryl and The Admiral, Chadbo, Condi and Jeffrey Ross as Islamic terrorism hits the Bible Belt; and the world is going to Hell in the proverbial handbasket.

It will be sad to finish the final chapter.

There is another Final Chapter in my life right now as I conclude my final Omega Letter, and I am not alone in my sadness that Omega Letter will close. God led me to the Kinsella family, and I am so glad I met them. As I read the letters from Jack and the other phenomenal writers, I was humbled when asked to join this group. It was another one of my many gifts from God.

Before joining the Omega Letter family, Kari asked me to send Part One so they could have a read. When Jack read it, he wrote an article recommending it to Omega Letter readers. We mailed more books in the following 48 hours than we ever have, before or since. And what a magnificent group of readers and subscribers to this family business! Many of our lives have been blessed by Kari, Mike, Jack and Gayle. My life has also been blessed by those who commented on the weekly articles.

I hope you will continue to stay in touch, either through my author page on facebook or via email.

Facebook author page: https://www.facebook.com/AuthorJLRobb/

Email: jrobb3328@gmail.com or jrobb3328@aol.com

Pete started a facebook page, EFTB Even From the Beginning, and I hope you will check it out.

One thing I have noticed about sadness is that it often leads to gladness in ways we do not understand. God weaves mysteries in our lives. I feel confident and pray that Omega Letter makes a comeback. If so, I will be there with the other writers. Our love for this family runs deep. Until then, may God smile on the Kinsella family and all of you.

I bid you sweet adieu, and keep looking up.

What s in a Name? – by Wendy Wippel

What s in a Name? – by Wendy Wippel
Vol: 29 Issue: 10 Wednesday, October 10, 2018

Ever noticed how often God changed people’s names? Abraham and Sarai (both of whom acquired a “Heh”, when God changed their names, “Heh” being the Hebrew letter that represented the Holy Spirit.).  Jacob, who became Israel, meaning “ Prince of God” . Peter, who went from Petros (pebble) to Petra (boulder). Conclusion: names matter. They carry a spiritual promise. Apparently from Adam on.

We all know God himself named Adam:

And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them.”

God made the man and called him Adam (the word for man being Adam), and let him name everything else. But names matter. And it would seem Adam had a little help with picking names, or at least some divine inspiration. Because the names that followed Adam’s carry the biggest spiritual promise of all.

Genesis 5 gives the genealogy of the first family, beginning with Adam and continuing down to Noah, at which point the population of earth kind of got a fresh start. Specifically, in order, the genealogy names:

  • Adam
  • Seth
  • Enosh
  • Kenan
  • Mahlalel
  • Jared
  • Enoch
  • Methuselah
  • Lamech
  • Noah

Adam, we already got covered.  It means “man”.

The meaning of Seth’s name is revealed in Genesis 4:25: And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.”

Seth means given. “Allotted. Appointed.”

From here on out, however, you have to dig a little deeper to figure out meanings.  I use Blueletter Bible’s online Interlinear/concordance and it’s awesome .  (Click on the root words for more depth of meaning.)  Lots of fun.

We continue:

Enosh means “mortal one” from a root word that means desperate, sick, wicked, incurable.

Kenan, from its root word means sorrow, grief, lamentation (see Ezekiel 2:102732) We get the English verb to keen, meaning to cry in a way that represents absolutely inconsolable grief, from the Hebrew root word for Kenan.

Mahalalel, from its root words. means “the God who is to be praised” See Proverbs 27:32and look at the Hebrew words in a concordance that gives you the actual word for more examples.

Jared means “to descend, to come down” See Genesis 18:21, and look at the Hebrew words in a concordance that gives you the actual word, like BlueletterBible.com for more examples.

Enoch, from its root word means “to teach, to train up”. See I Kings 8:63.and look at the Hebrew words in a concordance that gives you the actual word like BlueletterBible.com for more examples

Methuselah literally means “his death shall bring” a prophecy of Methuselah’s death occurring simultaneously with the onset of the flood.

You can do the math for yourself using the lifespans of the patriarchs in Genesis, and it does.

For another example of Methuselah being used to mean “his death shall bring” see Psalm 43:3 in a concordance that gives you the actual Hebrew words, like BlueletterBible.com

Lamech is the one word that carries over into English. Lamech means to lament. to despair. To lose all hope. It’s a combination of  the Hebrew prefix “le” meaning “toward”  and “muth” meaning “death.”

Toward death.  I think we get the idea.

Noah, as implied  in Genesis 5:29: And he called his name Noah, saying, “This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord has cursed.”, means a place of comfort, quiet, rest.

So what’ the spiritual promised here in this list of names?

The one I promised you?  Just read the names in order:

Man

is given, appointed, allotted

desperate, sick, mortal

sorrow

The God who is to be praised

shall descend, come down

teaching

his death shall bring

those who despair, lament, and mourn

a place of quiet, comfort, and rest.

I have taught this a dozen times and I still have chills.

We serve an awesome God.  One we’ll meet someday soon in the sky.

And how cool is it that when we do, we’ll have a new name given to us by the Lord himself. (Revelation 2:17)

I’ve never liked my name much. Wendy was not a name with a weight  with a weight of tradition behind it (J.M. Barriemade it up for the book Peter Pan from a word he used to describe his daughters chums”  “fwendies”.  And for some reason (Probably just because it was the sixties, and nature names were the rage) classmates and teachers alike seemed convinced that it was actually supposed to be “Windy”. Making matters worse, my mom paired my first name, Wendy, with the middle name Gale (as opposed to Gail) which brought me my share of grief on the playground.

And then married into Wippel. Wendy Wippel. Which actually gets guffaws from time to time.

Heavy sigh.  Yep. I’m ready for an upgrade. Aren’t we all!

LYING LIPS AND THE APOCALYPSE- by Steve Schmutzer

LYING LIPS AND THE APOCALYPSE- by Steve Schmutzer
Vol: 29 Issue: 9 Tuesday, October 9, 2018

I’m in no mood to mince words here, nor is there good reason to. The truth about our nation’s political and cultural upheavals needs to be plainly stated, so I’ll start with the burner on low and turn up the heat as I go.

There are various ways to approach these issues, but I want to look at “the good, the bad, and the ugly.” With my nod to Clint Eastwood, that’s an easy outline to follow.  First – the “good.”

President Trump has achieved an amazing feat with our nation’s economy, and even the Washington Compost, The Associated Depress, and The New York Slimes reluctantly admit this. The President’s brand new NAFTA deal is the latest of his promises he’s performed on, and it remedies a massive $500 billion trade deficit that has burdened America’s manufacturers. It infuses fresh oxygen into an economy that’s already roaring back under his leadership.

The unemployment rates for African Americans and Hispanics have fallen to their lowest levels on record, and our nation’s overall unemployment rate is at a 50-year low. Consequently, consumer sentiments are at their most favorable levels in 18 years, and U.S. small business optimism has just hit its highest point in history.

The United States economy grew at a rate of 4.2 percent in the second quarter of 2018, and the stock market has jumped 27 percent since President Trump began slashing regulations, implementing sensible tariff policies, and cutting taxes. Various environmental and economic policies that President Obama put in place to hamstring this country have been repealed, and now all the right arrows are going up.

The good news permeates other fronts in our nation’s affairs too. Kim Jong “Goon” hasn’t fired any more missiles over Japan since President Trump told him whose red button was bigger and better. Instead, America received back the remains of its Korean War heroes without airlifting pallets of illegal cash in a covert nighttime operation. “Little rocket man” has pledged to disarm his atomic arsenal in North Korea, and the Iranian Nuclear Accord has been exposed for being the shameful house of cards it always was.

President Trump has also unshackled his military leaders so they can do their job. They no longer have to get permission to “shoot back.” The result is ISIS has been crushed in Iraq and Syria and they are in full retreat. President Trump has actually followed through on his “red line” promises. He has dropped massive bombs on terrorist hideouts, unleashed cruise missiles on chemical warfare perpetrators, and required our NATO allies to pay their fair share of the defense account.

In the 20 months or so since the world’s most recognized comb-over has rebranded The White House, many young conservative judges have been appointed to the federal appeals courts and constitutional judges have been appointed to The Supreme Court. President Trump’s greatest legacy may end up being his forward-thinking stamp on the U.S. judicial system. The benefits are likely to be felt for decades to come.

Under President Trump’s leadership, it’s OK again to say “Merry Christmas” and to claim we are “one nation under God.” We may not be a truly “Christian” nation at this point in time, but at least we now have a President who is supporting the basic expressions of our faith.

The obvious truth that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital is finally official, and relations between Israel and America have never been better. It’s also proper now to screen folks coming into the US from countries which have openly pledged to harm American citizens. It always was proper to do this, but President Trump had to contend with lawless ideals in order to make common sense a rule.

Much more could be said here that qualifies as “good,” but the bottom line is President Trump has made our nation stronger and safer. By rejecting a fanatical socialist-globalist agenda, he has pointed our country back towards sanity.

Enter Maxine “Mad Max” Waters. Like a pull-string doll in a rumpled James Brown wig, her reaction to all this good news is, “Impeach! Impeach! Impeach!” Her talking points are mostly two-syllable squawks that contribute as much to a productive discussion as a trained parrot.

“Maxine, what do you think of the historically-low unemployment figures within the African American community?”

“Impeach!!!”

“Maxine, how do you feel about getting proven constitutionalists on the judiciary instead of activist judges that want to change the laws?”

“Impeach!!!”

“Maxine, isn’t it great that we’ve managed to beat back ISIS?”

“Impeach!!!”

“Maxine, have you….”

“IMPEACH!!!”

It’s obvious by now I’ve shifted over to the “bad” point of my outline, but I wouldn’t be writing this article if the rabid rantings of “Mad Max” were isolated to her. They’re not. She’s just one of the most transparent individuals about her party’s real intentions.

We hear that the left is “unhinged” in their reactions to President Trump and his supporters, but that description hardly comes close to telling the truth.

Although the right was deeply distraught with the elections of President Obama, and with his “Make America Weak” policies, they never rioted in the streets, torched cars, beat up bystanders, threatened to kill electors, shot cops, formed filthy communes in public places, encouraged assassinations, promoted anarchy, planned hit squads against homes, bankrolled mobs, shut down free speech, nor asked for safe rooms, teddy bears, pet therapy, and Play-Doh.

When conservatives disagree with the liberal-socialist agenda, they don’t flood Twitter with murder threats or roundhouse kick peaceful protesters. They don’t menace the left with threats of rape, and they don’t shoot democrat lawmakers at baseball games.

Conservatives clean up after themselves at their own (peaceful) rallies and they don’t chase administration staff from restaurants. They don’t talk about blowing up the White House and they don’t pose with severed heads of the President. Conservatives are not out there shouting at folks in elevators, stabbing opposition candidates, encouraging supporters to harass liberal lawmakers wherever they find them, or burning the left’s campaign headquarters to the ground.

The right has not compared Obama’s supporters to segregationists or Nazis, and they have not claimed that a democratic President is worse than the 9/11 terrorists. Conservatives don’t scream that the left has placed a madman in The White House, and they don’t publicly appeal for drastic action and violence in the streets. Conservatives don’t attack and berate Christians for their beliefs and values at the same time as they are protecting and aiding Sharia law.

Conservatives don’t call for impeachment just because they don’t like someone, and they don’t protect a two-tiered system of justice at all costs. They don’t turn venerated proceedings for Supreme Court picks into chaotic protest rallies, and they don’t stonewall cabinet nominees for over a year. The right does not register illegal immigrants in a dishonest effort to create sympathetic voters, and conservatives do not go on national television to protect criminals from that group over the rights of their unfortunate – and legal – victims!

Sure, the right is imperfect. Nobody is going to argue with that one, and I’ll be first to say I’m very unhappy with many of the “reds.” No one disagrees that far too many Republicans are really “Republicrats” under their tailored suits. The “never-Trumpers” behave like “blues,” and we can look at who the Bush family voted for as a case in point.

All those things said, we have much bigger problems here. The conduct of the left is now commonly unlawful, routinely deceptive, habitually self-serving, frankly phony, and – on so many points – outrageously wrong!

It’s not that the left doesn’t understand the virtues of common sense, law, due process, and faith – but rather, they don’t want them! This is why committed liberals are engaged in a war against all things reasonable, righteous, and respectable.  Their actions prove they’re agents of hate.

All that leads me to “ugly,” and maybe it feels like we’re already there. We naturally wonder, “Can it get any worse?”  Unfortunately, it will.

I’m becoming more and more convinced that these rapidly-eroding cultural and political trends we see within our nation represent a prototype that will reach full expression in the Tribulation. If the Lord returns soon, many hardened liberals will be the antichrist’s strongest allies.

“GASP!!!! Whaaaaat?!? How can you say that? That’s so intolerant, so racist, so totally, uh….white male! You’re creating division!  You are not promoting healing. Shame on you!”

Whatever.

The left doesn’t want healing! They want their way – and they’re playing by whatever rules they need to play by to get it. They govern by mob rule, and if they can smear and move the goalposts in the process, that’s just fine. Disruptions and crises are useful to them. It’s patently obvious.

Think about it. My points are not an issue of partisan labels, but rather an assessment of the plain facts. Those who most despise God, His gospel, His values, His followers, and His systems of law and order which are based on His Word – are those who are most likely to be left behind in the Rapture. It’s these hateful postures that routinely marinate the passions of the left.

In the past ten years we’ve seen many examples of liberals ignoring the laws to advance their agenda, and that’s because they could care less about laws. Laws remind responsible people how to color inside the lines and so laws are an inconvenient factor for the left. If laws are in their way, the left ignores or attacks them.

None of their behaviors are about making a cogent case; the left will elevate the absurd to achieve their goals. Over and over we’ve seen the left praise anything which calls sound reason into question. It’s why liberals are the ones to most exalt the senseless premise of climate change, and it’s why they celebrate economic policies which are not supported by third grade math.

It’s predominately the left that attacks national boundaries, pushes for government dependence, expands welfare, riots against free speech, hates Israel, promotes violence as a means of expression, plots lies to gain an advantage, puts down Christians, and believes in redistribution of wealth.

So again, let me be blunt. The kind of folks that are going to rally behind the antichrist and his depraved policies are exactly the kind of people the progressive-liberal-socialists are today.

For any of my readers which are offended by my assertions, take a deep breath. Let’s all be honest here – politics have changed!

The democrats today are not the party of your mother or your grandmother! The left is not the party of John F. Kennedy anymore. His past speeches ring with more conservative fervor than an entire apple-pie-eating Republican congress can muster today. The left of our times has morphed into an anarchist movement that wants to constrain freedom, create chaos, control power, and change the responsible order of things. Like it or not, that’s the truth.

Let’s assess my conclusions from another point of view. Let’s see what the Bible says about the antichrist and his style of leadership. I believe that will help us imagine the sort of people his supporters will be like.

A pithy portion of Scripture that lays out a series of bullet points about these matters is found in Daniel 8:23-25.  Here, Gabriel explains some details about the antichrist to Daniel, and the picture that emerges is a telling one.

He throws truth to the ground. This is an over-arching condition that is stated back in Daniel 8:12, and it reinforces that the end times will be upside down.

Lying lips will be the foundation of the apocalypse. Good will be bad and bad will be good. Right will be wrong and wrong will be right. Gabriel elaborates on this matter more in Daniel 8:25 where he says of the antichrist, “He will cause deceit to prosper.”

The antichrist’s political system and the people he will set up to advance his globalist agenda will actively promote deception. His efforts will be strategic, ruthless, and unapologetic. Lies of all kinds will infuse the antichrist’s brand, and his supporters will approve of his ruses the same way those tactics are defended by the ranks of the left today. For unprincipled liberal-socialist-globalists then and now, “the end justifies the means.”

Various other translations state the antichrist’s deceit will come by way of his “cunning,” and “policies.” This is simple to understand; he’s intentional about his shams. If someone wants to advance law and order, promote accountability, and fight for justice during the antichrist’s rise to power, they’re not going to be welcome.  He’ll see to that.

Deception is key to the end times at every turn and level. The antichrist’s agenda will promote “hope and change,” but that’s part of his deception. His real goal is a godless one-world government with himself at the top. He wants to be seen as God and he wants to be worshipped as God (2 Thess.  2:3-4), and to achieve this he must control the minds of the masses. His supporters will believe things which are not true, and they will be this way because he has “….caused deceit to prosper.”

He destroys mighty men and the holy ones. This phrase closes out Daniel 8:24, and it emphasizes the theme of destruction which marks the antichrist throughout the Scriptures. But here, every translation states he will destroy two specific groups of people, and I think there are details we should take note of.

“Mighty men” is the most commonly-used term for the first group, but other translations call them “powerful leaders” or “powerful people.”  These are folks with resources and networks, and they are probably wealthy. They are powerful, prominent, and privileged.  In other words, they have the potential to resist the antichrist and to influence others.

Despots throughout human history have always destroyed this class of people in their own rise to power. Rich people, scientists, scholars, politicians, and businesspeople have always been a threat to narcissistic dictators, and so they are eliminated. The antichrist will do the same thing.

Many of these “mighty men” in Daniel 8:24 will be self-made. Many of them will be independent – not in the political sense, but in terms of shaping their destinies. They are likely to be suspicious of the antichrist’s plans, and they’ll hesitate to give up what they’ve worked hard to achieve.

These “powerful people” missed the Rapture so we can assume most of them by this point will still be godless – but like many of their classic type, they will be self-reliant. They will “march to the beat of their own drummer, and this will mark these non-conformists as a threat to the antichrist’s agenda. The Bible says he will eliminate them when they least expect it (Daniel 8:25).

Believe me – the antichrist will find strong support for destroying this influential group.  We see the basis of this argument today. Millenials form the bedrock of the liberal activists and mobs. They constitute the majority population of “Occupy Wall Street,” “Black Lives Matter,” and “Antifa.” Millenials are proving you only need two things to succeed: ignorance and confidence.

Because they fail to understand basic economic principles, and because they lack a strong work ethic, Millenials distrust capitalism and they resent those who are successful. They constantly demand entitlements, even if it means others need to give up what they’ve legitimately earned and acquired. Newsweek called the Millenials “The Me Me Me” generation in 2013, and it’s one of the few times this publication has stated the truth.

I’m painting with a broad brush here, but if many Millenials’ brains were taxed, they’d get a refund. Several studies reiterate that most Millenials want socialism which proves this group has learned nothing from history. Modern political and economic failures like Venezuela, South Africa, and most of the European continent are shrugged off. Millenials still want everything for nothing.

In defense of the Millenials, it’s impossible to be informed when your news source is SNL and The Comedy Network. It’s hard to find the truth when CNN admits they’re pushing lies, but they push them anyways. It’s challenging to gain a responsible perspective of the world when you’re still supported by your parents as an adult.

This entire state-of-affairs is a convenient situation for the globalists!  At a recent campaign-style rally in Las Vegas, Michelle Obama encouraged folks who “know nothing about nothing” to get out and vote. It is the “low information voter-type” that will endorse the antichrist’s destruction of “powerful people.” This plan will appeal to their ignorance, to their progressive-socialist ideals, and to their warped sense of justice.

There’s a second group the antichrist will target, and it’s also going to suffer more of the same biases we already see from the ranks of the left today.  The antichrist, in Daniel 8:24, will also destroy the “holy people.” Other translations call them “God’s people,” “saints,” and “Holy ones.”

These are folks which have come to saving faith after the Rapture. They didn’t have a right relationship with God before that point, but they do now! “Seeing is believing” I guess.

But these people are the real deal! Revelation defines them as those who will be killed “….for the Word of God and the testimony they had maintained” (Rev. 6:9; 12:11). It’s pretty clear from Revelation and related passages that the antichrist does all he can to get rid of them.

This is also the point of Daniel 8:24. The followers of God during the antichrist’s reign share something in common with the “powerful people,” though they may differ in most other ways. This second group also resists the antichrist and his system. They are also a threat to his plans.

Now, the motives of “God’s people” will be much different than the motives of the “powerful people.” Since the saints are marked by a right relationship with God, their stance is a righteous one. But it’s the same net end result for the antichrist.

This second group will not conform to the antichrist’s godless, deceptive, and self-serving ideals because these things are in violation of a Holy God and His standards.  They will not yield to the antichrist’s economic policies and his corrupt governance. In fact, we know the saints will speak out against all of this. Again, Revelation makes that clear.

This second group will be reviled, attacked, persecuted, and killed for placing their faith in Jesus Christ and for living according to God’s Word.  They will refuse to conform to the sham of a one-world system. Put another way, “God’s people” of Daniel 8:24 will be square pegs in a new world order where all the holes are round.

It’s that way for “God’s people” right now, so it’s easy to see this dynamic becoming much worse. The seeds of hate against “God’s people” are already flourishing in the left today, and nobody set that prejudice in motion more effectively than our nation’s first Muslim President, Barak Hussein Obama.

It was B.O. who showed up at the National Prayer Breakfast to remind attendees about the terrible deeds done in the name of Christ. He was the one who mocked folks for “clinging to God.” His White House asked Georgetown University to cover a symbol of Jesus’ name before he spoke there. He tried to implement a non-religious Christmas. It was President Obama who said in 2006, “….we are no longer a non-Christian nation,” and it was him who said it again to his Turkish buddies in 2009. Finally, it was President Obama who decided against recognizing the National Day of Prayer, but who chose to host a Ramadan dinner instead.

This is just a sampling of all the ways President Barak Hussein Obama rejected Christians and their faith during his eight years in office. Under his leadership, the left found energy and justification for disparaging Christians, and their bigotries have only grown since.

We’ve truly reached a point where the left is anti-God. The Democrat party has veered so far in the pro-choice, anti-family, pro-gay, anti-Israel, pro-transgender, anti-prayer (etc.) directions that former 2013 nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, E. W. Jackson, stated, “Christians should leave it.” He added in a radio interview that he thinks believing in God and voting Democratic are fundamentally incompatible. I think he’s much more right than he is wrong.

The “demon-crats” today attacks the tenets of Christian faith with a venom that is truly other-worldly.  Their angst against the Bible and against those that rightly believe it is the inspired Word of God boils down to one basic reason: liberals are anti-God!

Pick your poison – call them what you will: “liberals,” “the left,” “democrats,” “progressives,” “socialists,” “globalists,” “fascists,” – define them anyway you choose. It’s clear the lines between these terms are heavily blurred.

All these groups despise conservatives, Christians, and constitutionalists, and they all hate God. Members of one group are active in the next. Labels mean very little when the depraved behaviors are the same across the spectrum.

Because liberals are anti-God, they are an intellectually dishonest and unprincipled people. They’ve checked their brains at the door because they are always in search of a world without moral consequences, and that’s not the way God designed things. This situation renders the left as “fools” because they refuse to admit the obvious facts and to “give God glory” (Rom. 1:21-22).

The truth about God is an unrelenting accountability to the left’s corrupt desires (Rom. 1:18-19). Liberals don’t want the Gospel because that implies their choices are wrong. A liberal cannot stand the fact that their own conscience is supernaturally wired to remind them of their sin. This is a key reason why so many liberals are angry people. They are constantly at war within themselves against their own need for God’s grace.

It is also a key reason why the left makes “the State” their god. Liberals worship “the State” and the one-world community they desperately want it to become. The left attempts to use their god (big government and absolute control) to achieve their globalist ideals and to eliminate all consequences for their immoral behavior.

This is why the left despises Christians now, and it’s why liberals make every effort to shut down all expressions and standards of the Christian faith. It’s why liberals scream bloody murder against any warnings about the true Islamic agenda while they turn a blind eye and deaf ear to those who persecute Christians and mock The One True God.  Their double standard is evident to all.

The Tribulation Scriptures plainly lay out the loathsome behaviors directed against God and His followers by those who support the antichrist. A number of passages provide startling parallels between the vile behaviors that are graduating in liberals today and the abhorrent deeds that qualify the globalists during the end times.

For example, the antichrist will oversee and orchestrate the relentless persecution and killing of the Tribulation saints (Daniel 7:21, 25; Dan. 11:33; Rev. 12:11; 20:4; et. al.).  He cannot tolerate their resistance, but more importantly, he hates God.

In exact imitation of the antichrist’s hatred of God’s followers, his supporters will rage en masse against God’s truth and against those who dare to speak it. The mobs will react in unspeakable ways as a result. A particularly-grotesque example of this is when the two witnesses of God are killed in Jerusalem (Rev. 11:5-10).

This text says the world will applaud the death of these two witnesses and will refuse their burial.  They will even “send each other gifts” to celebrate this occasion. It’ll be party time!

It will be a big deal to the unsaved world because these two witnesses will have a strong “testimony” (vs. 7) and they will back up their words with evidence of God’s power (vss. 5-6).  The world that will reject Christ then will want no reminders of who they have rejected, in the very same way that fact is underscored over and over today.

One of the clearest displays in The Tribulation of the left’s behaviors in our times is the way the followers of the antichrist will choose to remain in their sin even when they are presented with the truth and when they face consequences (Rev. 9:20-21). All around them, the depraved ranks of humanity will have been killed by God’s judgments.  Surrounding these rebels will be evidence of God’s sovereignty, power, and truth.  It will be on plain display like no other time in history.

It seems none of this will matter to the antichrist’s followers.  They will choose to remain in their sin and they will curse God instead (Rev. 16:9). They will do whatever it takes to protect and continue in their depravity.

One only needs to look at the violent behaviors of liberals who defend abortion and gay rights today to see this egg has been let out of the shell. It’s not going back in. There is no doubt the unsaved masses today have chosen darkness rather than light (John 3:19).

One of the hallmark qualities of the left today is their desire to control the flow of money, to redistribute wealth, and to implement a global system of economics. This highly-regulated situation defines the socialist utopia, and the antichrist will succeed at accomplishing this.

I believe it’ll all start matter-of-factly enough.  The Rapture will take out millions of people and this will result in abandoned properties and resources being left for all those who remain.  There will be plenty of money and “goodies” to redistribute for a while, and this will further condition the masses for the socialist ideals they are already wired to want.

Eventually, resources will run slim. There will be too many takers and not enough givers. The bottom line is socialism never works. Former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, said, “The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.”  This dilemma will inevitably arise in The Tribulation as it has with every socialist experiment before it.

There’s no doubt the “mark of the beast” (Rev. 13:16-17) is strategically-designed to cause further persecution of the Jews and Christians during The Tribulation. But, given that the antichrist is also the maximum expression of a socialist dictator, I believe his mark is also a tool to institute global economic control.

This, quite simply, is the ultimate objective of liberal-socialist-progressives today.  If they can control the flow of money and resources and place themselves at the top of the food chain, then they have everything else they most covet.

Hints of the antichrist’s socialist constitution emerge elsewhere in the Scriptures. He redistributes land and wealth (Dan. 11:39), his policies become the economic ruin of many (Dan. 8:25), he accumulates vast amounts of resources for himself (Dan. 11:43), and he will speak out against God (Dan. 7:25; Rev. 13:5-6) throughout the entire process.

Stride for stride, these are the hallmarks of every socialist despot in human history, and sadly – they are the passionate bent of the left today.  The antichrist will be the ultimate “show and tell” of the current left’s agenda, and the entire world will suffer as a result.

In closing, the title of this article is one which focuses on deception. It is blatant deception the antichrist will employ to achieve his goals, and it is lies of every sort that the left advances in our times to achieve theirs.

The socialist ideals of liberals cannot succeed where truth is given priority and virtue is encouraged. It will be during the end times as it is now: an atmosphere of crisis and a stew of lies will be fostered by the depraved world to justify a collectivist oppression.

We see many examples in our time of the left calling evil “good” and calling good “evil.” Daily, we see law and order being rejected and rebuked by the violent and ignorant masses. Every evening we are saturated with news stories that feature the blatant corruption and injustice of those who have rejected God’s standards. We see the mounting hatred of God and His people. We see physical attacks and calls for assassination against people just for their political views.

There are so many examples like these – even 15 years ago, we would have marveled to think we’d be where we are now….. but it has happened!  The world is preparing itself for their false Messiah, the antichrist, and he’ll find favor from many people the likes of many around us today.

There is no remedy for this grievous situation except the Gospel. Those who are truly in Christ do not need to be afraid.  Jesus knows what we are facing now, and He knows what is coming.  In John 14:27-31 He reminds us of this:

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

Come now, let us leave.”

The Island of Misfit Toys – by Pete Garcia

The Island of Misfit Toys – by Pete Garcia
Vol: 29 Issue: 8 Monday, October 8, 2018

Several weeks ago, many of us got a major shock when we found out the Omega Letter website was finally closing its doors after seventeen-year run online. Upon hearing the bad news, one of the member faithful commented in the forums, well, sh*$. Probably not the most Christian response one could give, but perhaps the most human.

For many, the Omega Letter had long been a church to the churchless. It was a respite for the weary. A lighthouse on an island amongst a sea of internet ministries. The light the Omega Letter helped shine, provided direction, clarity, and safe-passage for those trying to navigate the often-murky waters of how bible prophecy fits into our world today. The Omega Letter was also a house of prayer; where many could help lift each other up and help bear each other’s burdens in these last days. In those regards, many in the member forums became like family.

Jack Kinsella’s sudden death in 2013 rocked many within the Pre-Tribulation/ Dispensational communities. He was well known and well respected for his astute insights and articulate prose. Many wondered if the OL doors would have shuddered even back then, but we (the staff writers) kept writing. We continued to do so long as the family decided to keep the lights on. Even as devastated as many within our small (and shrinking) communities were about the loss of Jack (along with all the other solid Bible teachers we have lost as of late), the world never noticed.

There was no media coverage. No biographies in the New York Times or other papers of note. No mention at all except for those from within the Pre-Trib community. It was as if the world never even noticed. I am sure from their perspective; people like us at the Omega Letter are just a bunch of backwards, knuckle dragging, bible-thumpers. I am also sure from the mainstream churches perspective that we are on the fringe. We are truly like the island of misfit toys that no one wants or cares about, the proverbial tin-foil hat brigade.

Perhaps that is all true as well.

Many of us (myself included) are poor, broken, flawed, and unwanted. In and of ourselves, we have little strength (or chance) to stand against the overwhelming rising tide of apathy and evil that is sweeping across our land. It was along this vein by which a world, whom is increasingly being given over to its own demise, that we should become a safe harbor for the shipwrecked and destitute. It was not heaven or perfection the Omega Letter offered, but a refuge from the storm for those weary of wandering. A warm, cozy place they could sit and stay a spell. What Jack began, we carried on for another five years in his honor. The fact that the OL ran for 17 years is a testament to the integrity and ministry Jack left behind.

I would like to think Jack is beaming down on us from Heaven right now, proud that his life and legacy continued for as long as it had after his death. That the readers and writers faithfully continued to contribute in this labor of love, devoting hundreds of hours of study, prayer, and research into this little corner of the internet. We fearlessly put our thoughts and ideas to pen and paper each day, contributing to a family who, for the most part, we have never met. Moreover, with the Omega Letter’s closing, most of us will go our own separate ways. Some of us will continue to write in our own venues, but we individually, will never have the same magic we had together collectively.

Speaking personally, writing can be a heavy burden when done faithfully, consistently, and honestly. I would devote many hours each week to give the very best analysis and insight I could with the limited time I had in which to do it. And as always, I did so gratis. That is not to brag or to pat myself on my back for the seven-years and over 350 articles published. I did so because this was where God wanted me to serve. I think we all believed this to be a labor of love, one in which we all served willingly.

With that said, this is my final article for the Omega Letter.

It seems just as surreal saying this, as I am sure it is many of you reading this. Thank you (the faithful readers) for supporting the Omega Letter over the years. A heartfelt thanks to Jack, Gayle, Kari, the Kinsella family, and my fellow OL writers (Alf, Wendy, JL, Steve, Rebecca, Frank, and Ed) for a wonderful experience and journey over the years. Thanks for continuing for another five years when it would have been so much easier to just let the website close back in 2013.

Lord willing, I will continue with my own little island refuge for the time being for anyone who cares to stop by and stay a spell (www.rev310.wordpress.com). You can also read my articles at Rapture Ready and Rapture Forums when they post them. Let me close with my favorite passage, and I hope that it brings you much joy and peace in the time we have left, as it has done for me over the years.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2nd Corinthians 4:17-18

Until we meet again, Maranatha!

Religiously Christian
Vol: 29 Issue: 6 Saturday, October 6, 2018

”Religion” is system of worship whereby man attempts to make himself acceptable to his God.  That is why the word can be universally applied to any system of theology.

Catholicism is a religion.  Hinduism is a religion.  Islam is a religion.  Even secular humanism is a religion, recognized as such by no less a secular authority than the Supreme Court. (Torcaso v Watkins, 1961).  Secular humanism dictates man is his own supreme being, and is the systematic endeavor to reconcile man unto himself.

Of all the world’s great religions, the only one for which the appellation ‘religion’ is wholly inaccurate is that of Christianity.

Religion, with all its rituals, sacrifices and dogma, is man’s way of making himself acceptable toGod, while Christianity is a system where God makes man acceptable unto Himself.

That is not a distinction without a difference.  Christianity is the mirror image of ‘religion’ — its core doctrines might even be called ‘anti-religious’.

Religions demand adherence to certain rules and regulations as a condition of salvation.  Those rules are compiled by religious men, set forth as the defining characteristics of that religion, and followed by its religious adherents, if they are to remain in good standing with their religion, and therefore, with God.

Religion, in all its forms, is a series of theological laws that must be kept by its followers in order to make themselves acceptable to whatever their understanding of God might be.  Christianity is accepting God’s definition of Himself.

Jesus Christ was put to death for exposing the hypocrisy of religion. Not just the religious leaders, but religion itself.  When the religious leaders tried to trap Him with the Law, He exposed the hypocrisy of religion for all to see.

“Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting Him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law?”

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 22:35-40)

Loving God above all things and loving one’s neighbor as oneself is God’s ‘law’.  Religion is a man-made substitute system that offers alternative choices.  Historically, more wars have been fought over religion than any other cause, many in the name of the ‘Christian religion.’

But Bible Christianity teaches that our war is this life is spiritual; “not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

That is not to say true Christians are forbidden to go to war, as in the case of the current war on terror.  Christians are not OF this world, but we are IN it.

As secular national citizens, Christians are admonished “to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,” (Titus 3:1) But that is not the same as banding together to conquer for Christ’s glory. That is a religious concept, not a Christian one.

The true source of religion — and its underlying concepts — was revealed in Scripture BEFORE the fall of Adam.

“For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:5)

Let’s break the oldest lie in the Book down into its component elements;

1) “Your eyes shall be opened.”

The serpent begins by hinting that God is deliberately withholding beneficial information from them. The argument that some Scriptures seem to require salvation by faith plus works, while others seem to support eternal security stems from that seminal deception — that God’s Word is ambiguous when examined closely.

2) “Ye shall be as gods.”

It goes against the grain of human pride to believe that the only role we play in our own salvation is to accept a free gift of unearned pardon. Most human religions — including most Christian denominations — insist that mankind play some role in his redemption.

In this view, the sacrifice of the Cross is not enough — it is just a kick-start that gets us going. We must then perform at a certain level or that sacrifice is negated by our own failed efforts.

3) “Knowing good from evil.”

This goes back to the belief that we humans can know WHICH sins are sufficient to disqualify us from heaven and which ones God will let slide because they weren’t as evil — which is the ONLY rationale for rejecting the doctrine of eternal security.

There are seemingly as many religions within Christianity as there are religions outside Christianity.  Religions within Christianity are Christian in the sense that they claim Christ as their Lord, but write their own rules to substitute for His standard of salvation by works.

The Lord’s standard for salvation by works is somewhat harsh:

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10-12)

So religion attempts to rewrite the rules, claiming unto itself special righteousness and understanding provides it with insights that make it unique in that it ‘seeketh after God’, claiming unprofitable rituals and sacrifices are now profitable, and organizing itself to ‘do good.’

Religious Christianity is a system that substitutes its own, more attainable standards of conduct for God’s standard of perfection, adding temporal punishments and penalties as atonements for the inevitable failure of its adherents.

When discussing the doctrine of eternal security, I note that most argue the phrase, not the doctrine.  The doctrine of eternal security is the essential difference between religion and Bible Christianity.

The terms used to describe salvation scream ‘eternally secure’; “Eternal life” (John 3:161st John 5:11), “full assurance” (Hebrews 6:11Colossians 2:2), “hope. . . sure and steadfast” (Hebrews 6:19)

Salvation is described in Scripture, not as something yet to come, but present-tense. Each true believer is described as “forgiven” (Romans 4:71st John 2:12), “justified” (Romans 5:1,9,Titus 3:7), “reconciled” (Romans 5:19) “risen with Christ” (Romans 6:3-6Colossians 3:1-2) a “new creation” (2nd Corinthians 5:17)

Believers are “complete in Him” (Colossians 2:10), already “citizens of heaven” (Philippians 3:20), “sanctified once and for all” (Hebrews 10:10) and “perfected forever.” (Hebrews 10:14)

The Bible says of believers that we ARE: “God’s family” (Galatians 3:261st John 3:2), effectively ALREADY “seated in the heavenlies with Christ” (Ephesians 2:5-6) and “translated into the kingdom of His dear Son” Colossians 1:13)

Salvation cannot be lost unless one discounts the following core doctrines: Salvation is eternal (John 3:1636), it is a present possession (Romans 51st Peter 2:24-25) it is imputed, not earned, (2nd Corinthians 5:17Galatians 2:20Hebrews 9:10Romans 3:24Ephesians 2:8-9,Titus 3:3-7Romans 3:19-284:4-511:16)

Eternal security is NOT a license to sin.  It is important to understand that eternal security does not apply to a person who merely professes Christ.  Salvation demands repentance.

Repentance means a change of mind resulting in a change of life.  The person who has never changed his mind about God, sin, Christ, the Bible, etc., has never repented and has never been saved.

Rather than granting license to sin, the Bible teaches that the grace of God actually motivates believers to serve God with a thankful heart. (Romans 2:4Ephesians 3:14,-19Titus 2:11-14)

A sinning believer is out of fellowship with the Lord, but the relationship remains the same. He is helped and loved by the Lord Jesus Christ (1st John 2:1-2). He is chastened by the Father (Hebrews 12:5-11) BECAUSE the relationship remains intact.

Although forgiven, a sinning Christian cannot regain lost opportunities or the hurt caused by his sin. And the sinning Christian will suffer loss at the Bema Seat. (1st Corinthians 3:11-152nd Corinthians 5:101st John 2:28)

Logically, to deny the doctrine of eternal security is to embrace religion as an acceptable way to please God.

But God says those who stand before Him trusting in their works will be judged ACCORDING to their works.  Those who stand before Him trusting in the Promise that Christ’s Work at the Cross was all sufficient will be judged according to that standard.

“If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” (1st Corinthians 3:15)

Religion doesn’t save us. It can’t keep us. There is only One Who can “keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.” (Jude 1:24)

Trust Him.
