Recently, educators, parents and guardians raised concerns regarding first quarter grades. Specifically, quarter grades are causing undue stress for educators and students with the impact of remote learning and the limited amount of evidence that demonstrates learning. As a result, we will not report first quarter grades for students in grades 6-12. Special education educators will continue to provide a quarterly report for students served in special education if required by the individual education plan.
We recognize this is very late notice and regret that this decision was not made earlier. However, the abundance of concern has risen as we approach the quarter end and we feel it is the right decision in support of students and educators.
We acknowledge the importance of accurate and up to date grades. Understandably, students and families will be interested in monitoring academic progress. An interim progress report will be provided early in second quarter if the student’s progress is “unsatisfactory” (D/F). This will provide students time to improve their performance before the end of the semester.
Please continue to utilize ParentVue to monitor grades for your child(ren) and communicate with the teacher if you have concerns about your child’s progress.
