Champlain Valley Claims State
Crown to Cap Perfect Season The Champlain Valley Union High School is the 2023-24 Vermont-NEA Scholars' Bowl state champion. The Redhawks swept through the April playoffs with four dominant victories in Montpelier on April 6th, which coupled their sweep in the January playoffs, insured them of their third state title overall and second in the last three years. The Redhawks won all 23 of their state tournament matches for the season and also went undefeated in claiming the league's three side competitions to finish the regular season with a record of 47 wins and no losses. CVU B also took home a state title on the 6th, taking the JV title with a 330-240 victory over Burlington B in the final. Mt. Abraham A earned the small-school state title for the first time since 2015, topping Montpelier 270-120 in the final after the Solons forced a deciding game by posting a 2-2 record in the bracket.
