Section on Pediatric Trainees
Anne E. Dyson Child Advocacy Award

Nomination Form

Deadline: Sunday, June 18, 11:59pm Central Time

The AAP Section on Pediatric Trainees (SOPT) invites nominations for the 2023 Anne E. Dyson Child Advocacy Award. This award, supported by the Dyson Foundation, celebrates the outstanding efforts of residents as they work in their communities to improve the health of children.

This award seeks to showcase projects that are designed and implemented by residents with the aim to improve the lives of children. We hope that rewarding exemplary resident-driven efforts will promote increased advocacy efforts by residents in the future and provide an opportunity for residents to help each other to plan future advocacy programs.

One resident should be identified as the project leader for this award and must be a member of the AAP. A resident co-leader may be submitted on the nomination form but identifying a single project leader is necessary from a logistical standpoint. Applications will be judged on the basis of resident involvement, project sustainability, originality, and overall impact on child health.

The Advocacy Award Includes

  • Check for $300 to advance the winning projects' goals
  • Conference registration for two residents per project to the 2023 AAP National Conference and Exhibtion in Washington, DC
  • Presentation of the Advocacy Award plaque during the SOPT Educational Program at the conference on Saturday, October 21, 2023
  • Press release and recognition in AAP News and SOPT News and Views Blog

Eligibility and Selection

  • Any resident led project that included advocacy on behalf of children is eligible for this award. Medical Students and Fellowship Trainees are not eligible for this award.
