Virginia 811 Server IP Address Change
Expected Date of Change: Wednesday, May 22, 2024
Virginia 811 is moving one of its servers to improve system reliability in case of widespread outages. This will change the server’s IP address. While efforts will be made to minimize disruptions, some stakeholders may need to prepare for the migration by updating settings, like whitelisting the new IP address.
Please check with your IT department to make sure you do not run across issues when this migration occurs. Specifically, they may need to whitelist the new IP address for the server. As a reminder, currently the server IPs are:
- 12.16.235.22
- 68.111.0.153
- 52.119.59.88
If your company restricts access to websites, the following address may need to be whitelisted in preparation for the migration:
Once the migration is complete, the following addresses can be removed. Please make sure these are not removed until we complete the migration:
- 68.111.0.153
- 52.119.59.88
During the migration, below are some steps that can be taken to resolve issues with accessing the migrated server:
If you are having issues with accessing the server on the day of the migration, you may need to flush your DNS cache. Below are the commands you can use to do so. We recommend that you check with your IT department prior to running these:
Windows
Open a command prompt and run the following command: ipconfig /flushdns
Mac
Open a terminal window and run the following command: sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder && echo macOS DNS Cache Reset
