We believe that taking care of Life, one person and community at a time, can eventually bring the larger culture we live in back to health. Springhouse is an intergenerational, vitality-centered learning community in Southwest Virginia where we are fundamentally transforming the purpose and practice of education.
Education either functions as an instrument which is used to facilitate the integration of the younger generation into the logic of the present system and bring about conformity, or it becomes the practice of freedom, the means by which men and women deal critically and creatively with reality and discover how to participate in the transformation of their world.

After ten years of experience in transformative education, we created a curriculum that supports the holistic development of people of all ages and leads to individual transformation and maturation.
We support our local community by working with others toward the vitalization of our region and contributing to the renewal of the Earth in our place.
We work toward change in our larger culture by supporting people around the world to create schools whose primary purpose is to foster vitality in people, communities, and places. Through a network of these schools, we transform the purpose and practice of education globally and strategically move toward a world where all life thrives.
Springhouse is accessible to all who want to fully live this life and learn how to create the conditions for others to do the same. Partnering with us allows us to offer our unique and vital programs to anyone, regardless of their financial means.
