Learning Outcomes

The Associate of Science in Nursing Degree program student learning outcomes and definitions are based on the National League for Nursing (NLN) for the associate degree in nursing.

2. Nursing Judgment: Integrate sound nursing judgment in the provision of safe, quality care.

4. Spirit of Inquiry: Contribute to the management of healthcare and continued quality improvement by incorporating evidence-based practice, cost containment, and current technology

Successful completion of the Professional Nursing program provides eligibility to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) enabling you to obtain the RN credential for entry-level practice.

Once you have finished your associate of science degree in Professional Nursing and passing the state Registered Nurse (RN) licensure exam, established transfer agreements allow you to apply your SCC credits toward a:

• Bachelor of science in nursing degree at Metropolitan State University
  The “Metro Plan” from Metropolitan State University is a specialized AS to BSN program that provides SCC students with a guided plan for completion of their associate of science degree at SCC and then their bachelor of science in nursing degree at Metropolitan State University. Upon entering Metropolitan State University, SCC graduates will only need to complete 36 additional credits to earn their bachelor of science in nursing degree. • Bachelor of science in nursing at Minnesota State University Mankato
  The Maverick {Nursing) Advance (Transfer) Plan, or “MAP,” is a partnership that provides a smooth transition from SCC’s associate of sciences in professional nursing degree to Minnesota State University Mankato’s 30 credit 100 percent online Registered Nurse (RN) baccalaureate completion degree. Guidance and support from both institutions will ensure a seamless transfer path directly after graduating with an associate of science degree from SCC.
