Dear South Burlington Football Families,

Even though we are in the thick of spring sports, my mind is on football today. Specifically, I am writing about a new football option for your child that is available for the fall 2022 season. The purpose of this note is to introduce you to the Jr. Wolves Youth Football program and let you know about the logistics for the upcoming year.

The goal of the Jr. Wolves program is to provide kids in South Burlington with the opportunity to play football in a fun, competitive, safe environment that’s predicated on the values of selflessness, teamwork and community. The coaching staff will be made up of people who have extensive experience working with kids in a variety of sports at high levels throughout Vermont. In the spirit of financial transparency and collaboration, the organization will be registered as a non-profit 501(c)3 and governed by a board of directors with extensive ties to football and the local community.

Our fundamental goal is to provide kids with a great football experience that will prepare them well for high school, but more importantly, provide them a chance to grow as a person through playing the game of football.

In terms of the experience, the team will practice three times per week at either Farrell or Dorset Park with games on Saturdays. The team will participate in the Northern Vermont Youth Football League and our hope is to field teams at the Flag (grades 1-4), Junior Varsity (grades 5-6), and Varsity (grades 7-8) levels.

As we begin to plan for our inaugural season, know that we will update you soon on a variety of logistics including total price per player, the process of obtaining equipment, and when fall practices will begin. Because we need to get a sense of numbers, please complete this Google Form if you are interested in having your child play for the Jr. Wolves.

Please look forward to further communication about the program in the weeks to come. Have a good rest of the school year!

On behalf of the coaching staff, know that we are extremely excited about this new opportunity.

Sincerely,

Coaches Sam Jackson, Mike Kelly, Ben Dickie, Nate Marrell, Greg Worgan, Gerry Couture & Jr. Wolves Moms
