Getting Started in Big Shot Basketball Academy
The Institute brings you a brand new program created by Mr. Big Shot himself, Chauncey Billups, for Kids ages 4-14. This program is for all kids who want to improve their game in an effective, progressive way and get them ready for higher level club and high school programs.
Big Shot Basketball Academy is a training academy designed to guide young players from beginners to advanced through a system of measurable fundamentals. Players must complete increasing levels with both written and skill based testing, with each full level taking 1 year of quarterly progressions to complete. After completing each quarterly 12-week program, players will achieve a progress badge to be worn and added to their jerseys. All levels will have a specific curriculum designed to build a foundation of learning and progress. After completing the final level, athletes will graduate from the entire Big Shot Basketball Academy and will have the opportunity to meet Chauncey at their ceremony.
Players are welcome to join anytime of the year!
To get started, each player will go through an assessment to help us determine the most appropriate class, based on the players age and skill level. Assessments are at the beginning of each session.
· If you would like to enter the program mid-way, we will do our best to place you if space is available and after evaluation/testing.
· Uniforms are $40 and includes shirt and shorts. Uniforms must be worn to each training session.

Big Shot Basketball Academy - Levels /Classes
Level 1 Prep Academy Beginners boys & girls ages 4-7
The emphasis of the Prep Academy is fun & fitness with a focus on basic fundamentals, rules & instruction. Players sporting the Blue Prep Academy jersey, will increase confidence and success with lowered hoops and smaller balls. After completing this level, a player can expect to understand basic basketball fundamentals and rules.

· Training: 1x/week
Register for Level 1 Prep Academy first quarter if you are new to the program and register for Level 1 second quarter if you have already completed Level 1 Prep Academy,
Levels 2 Beginner boys & girls ages 7-10
Players graduating or joining the Level 2 Beginners will now be using regulation sized hoops. Ball size will vary depending on ability, fitness level, and ability to follow instructions. The Level 2 Beginner program will focus on fundamentals, teamwork, and discipline.

· Training: 1x/week
Level 2 Intermediate boys & girls ages 9-12
Additional Benefits to Player from Level 2 Beginner level include: intermediate ball control skills, offensive and defensive footwork, and shooting accuracy.

Level 3 Intermediate boys & girls ages 10-14
Level 3 Intermediate begins increased intensity and focus. This level includes work on shooting footwork with accuracy and distance as well as weak hand/strong hand proficiency. At this stage, players will learn integration of game concepts and introduction to team defense concepts.

Level 3 Advanced boys & girls ages 11-14
The Advanced program at this Level will include game situation intensity, ball control while reading defense, advanced 1-on-1 moves, 2-on-2, and 3-on-3 concepts and competition, as well as advanced shooting footwork.

Level 4 Elite boys & girls ages 12-14
The Elite program encompasses high level intensity, full speed, mental focus, and competition. At this level there is an introduction to the mental preparation side of the game. Players will learn proficiency from the 3-point line as well as mastering finishing moves, advanced 1-on-1 concepts and advanced 5-on-5 gameplay concepts.

Level 5 Masters boys & girls ages 13-14
Players will work on shooting proficiency from the 3 point line at game speed, high intensity ball control and shooting drills as well as high intensity 2-on-2, 3-on-3 concepts and competition. After completing the Masters level, you should be fully ready to compete at the high school / competitive club level and will graduate with a ceremony at the Institute.
