Our 2024 forum

Planet, price and diet: How is seafood stacking up?

Consumers are more conscious than ever about how their food choices impact the planet. But they are also weighing environmental concerns against price, health, and quality. So is the consumer’s appetite for sustainably sourced seafood holding up? How do millennials and GenZ view eating seafood, in comparison to other protein sources? And how do these developments vary by region?

This year’s Seafood Futures Forum will reveal new insights on these topics, fresh from the world’s largest survey of seafood consumers. Conducted by GlobeScan research agency on behalf of the MSC in February and March 2024, the findings will be based on interviews with 25,000 consumers in 23 markets across the world.

Towards a Blue Food Future: Is the seafood industry ready for transformation?

Governments around the world are under pressure to build food systems which can meet the needs of the growing global population but to do so in a sustainable, climate-friendly way. This has put ‘blue foods’ firmly in the spotlight.

The forum explored the role of sustainable wild seafood in the ‘blue transformation’ and what this means for the industry.

Our 2023 keynote speaker was Professor Manuel Barange, Director of Fisheries and Aquaculture for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations’ (FAO).
