17th International Conference on Chemistry and the Environment (ICCE 2019)

Dear colleagues,

The 17th International Conference on Chemistry and the Environment (ICCE 2019) will be held 16-20 June 2019 at the Aristotle University Research Dissemination Centre (KEDEA) very close to the centre of Thessaloniki, Greece. ICCE 2019 is co-organised by the division of Chemistry and Environment (DCE) of EuChemS and the Association of Greek Chemists, under the Auspices of H. E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr Prokopios Pavlopoulos.

The Conference Programme will include a series of plenary lectures, and oral and poster presentations. Some examples of topics are pollutants of emerging concern, innovations in water and wastewater treatment, advanced oxidation treatment of waters, nano-size particulate materials and microplastic in surface waters, metabolomics and biotransformation of organic pollutants, monitoring and biomonitoring/biomarkers, dissolved natural organic matter and pollution impact on water quality, mediterranean environmental pollution, environmental risk assessment, university education, atmospheric pollution (indoor–outdoor).

Confirmed plenary speakers are the following Professors: Constantini Samara (Department of Chemistrym Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece), Silvia LaCorte (Department of Environmental Chemistry, Idaea-Csic, Barcelona, Spain), Urs von Gunten (Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag) & École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland), Roland Kallenborn (Norwegian University of Life Sciences and University Centre in Svalbard, Norway) and Mathias Ernst (Technical University of Hamburg, Germany).

The Deadline for Submission of Abstracts is Planned for 28 February 2019.

The previous conference of the series, ICCE 2017, was held in Oslo and was organized by the Norwegian Chemical Society. Four hundred and ten participants attended with 213 oral and 200 poster presentations. During the three days of the conference, 23 thematic sessions impressively illustrated the scientific depth and variety of chemistry in environmental research, regulation, and monitoring in today's international scientific context. As complementary events, seven pre- and post-conference specialized satellite events (workshops and seminars) were held highlighting priority scientific issues within Environmental Chemistry.
