Julian Schoming

Julian Schoming is a multi-instrumental composer, songwriter, and producer from the greater Washington DC area. With a great passion for music and culture, he draws inspiration from the innumerable musical traditions of the world. Combining genres such as folk, jazz, electronica, orchestral, progressive rock, and many more, he is often described as a "musical wizard" and "profound weaver of genres". In 2019 he graduated magna cum laude from The Berklee College of Music where he received a BM in Contemporary Writing and Production, and in 2020 he graduated with distinction from The University of Westminster where he received an MA in audio production.

In October of 2020, Julian released his first entirely self produced album “Tales of the Changing Tides”. Created in a London attic flat during the Covid-19 lockdown, the entire album was made with a laptop, one microphone, keyboard, nylon string guitar, and a plethora of repurposed household items used to create a sound library of percussion, all from within a tiny handmade closet recording booth.

Julian has worked with acclaimed artists such as Tigran Hamasyan, Paul Winter, Amira Medunjanin, Vadim Neselovskyi, The Pletenitsa Balkan Choir, and Charu Hariharan. In 2020, he was awarded an honorable mention in the International Songwriting Competition’s Instrumental Category for his piece “Cove Diving”.

Currently, Julian is on a five album journey which explores the natural elements. His latest album, “Tales of the Embers’ Glow”, was released on March 4, 2023, and focuses on the element of fire. In addition to his personal solo music albums, he also composes music for animation, film, and videogames.
