5th Annual Calf Auction to Benefit Agriculture Department

The Crowder College Agriculture department became the beneficiary of a Red Angus calf that will be sold at 11 am, Wednesday, March 28, at the Joplin Regional Stockyards.

This is the fifth year the Newton-McDonald County Cattlemens Association has joined forces with the Crowder Aggies to sell a calf. One hundred percent of the funds donated are used to Crowder Agriculture and Veterinary Technology students with competitions and career travel opportunities while attending Crowder College.

This year’s calf is a purebred Red Angus donated by Kunkel Farms, Dr. Dale Kunkel, Neosho. Other community sponsors contributing to the success of this auction include:  Joplin Regional Stockyards, Animal Clinic of Diamond, Liberty Utilities – Empire District Electric, New Mac Electric, Hunke Spraying, Tatum Motor Company-Mahindra Tractors,B7M Tire, FarmTalk, CornerStone Bank, Haggard Excavation LLC, Fred Harris-State Farm Insurance, Purina, Opal Foods, and many individuals.

The calf will be auctioned multiple times with the final buyer taking the calf home to show or add to their herd. Donations will be tax-deductible through the Crowder College Foundation.
