Meet Carol

I am driven by a passion for childhood growth and development, stemming from my experiences as a mother of three and as an educator. I am happiest when my kids are home sharing a meal and laughing together. Recharging my spirit happens in the solitude of gardening, writing, journaling, and being with quality people. The difficult experience of divorce impacted me in so many ways: it made me more compassionate, humbled me, and encouraged me to support other women in the same situation. My home has been a respite for others needing a place to be.

Professional

For me, watching a classroom buzz with exceptional learning is as beautiful as any symphony or painting in an art museum. I have been blessed to teach Pre-K through 12th grade as well as fulfilling the role of an Instructional Coach for educators. I am motivated by quality teachers and the thought of enhancing classroom experiences for students. Helping educators recognize and celebrate their many talents has become a joyful fascination of mine.

LIfe-Long Learning

I love to learn, and curiosity is embedded in my DNA! I have been privileged to attend the ICIC Conferences and Write-to-Publish Conferences (WTP) to stay sharp. (If you are attending this year’s WTP, let me know and we can lunch together!)

I have also greatly benefited from SCBWI Conferences, which are held across the country and offer amazing day-long and weekend opportunities. I would highly recommend participating if you you’re seeking to bolster your writing acumen.

FAITH

I am motivated by Jesus’ style of teaching. First, Jesus truly loves His students. He uses story telling, listening and reflective questioning. Beyond Jesus' style of teaching, He demonstrates radical love for the marginalized and oppressed. He speaks to those in power, inviting them to selfless love, yet calling them out in Truth.  He tells us to pray for our enemies and love them. That is radical thinking that challenges me. I want to follow. The Bible says: “The Word does not go out without accomplishing its good,” (IS 55:11).   God's truths will resonate in people's hearts to achieve the good that God desires, whether we credit the words to God or not. This verse is the cornerstone for my stories and life. I believe the spiritual truths presented in the Bible are astounding, and it is my goal to learn how to practice those amazing truths through my life and in my writing.
