Appalachian Conservation Corps (ACC) seeks applicants who are interested in fully committing to the program, who are willing to overcome any challenges, and those who will take advantage of the opportunities, skills and trainings that are offered throughout their term of service. ACC seeks those who will benefit from and contribute the most to the program; many positions require no previous experience.

Crew Member Positions

Crew Member positions include: Adult Conservation Crews, Youth Conservation Crews, and Leadership Development Program Crews. Please read through the position description before applying. Crew Member positions are entry-level, for individuals who are interested in the field of conservation but may not have previous experience, although those with experience are encouraged to apply as well.

Leadership Positions

Crew Leader positions include: Staff Crew Leaders and AmeriCorps Crew Leaders. Crew Leaders with ACC perform many roles and are the key to our program’s success. Candidates must demonstrate resourcefulness, professionalism, excellent judgement, and strong communication skills. Previous experience in the outdoor industry, and ideally in the Conservation Corps world, is needed for these positions. Successful Crew Leaders lead by example and devote themselves to creating a strong and safe crew culture, working alongside, supporting, and mentoring their crew members.

Individual Placement (IP) Positions

IP Positions are internships offered with a variety of partners, including federal agencies. IPs serve in specialized roles, working on a particular facet of resource management such as Education & Interpretation, Invasive Plant Management, or Backcountry & GIS. IP's work directly with partner staff, and thus have access to many networking, skill-building, and professional development opportunities. IP Positions often require previous education or experience in the applicable field, and candidates must display professionalism, initiative, and maturity.

WHO WE SERVE

Appalachian Conservation Corps (ACC) emphasizes the recruitment and engagement of diverse teams and individuals who learn from each other and their projects in a supportive environment. In selecting participants, ACC encourages all types of diversity including, but not limited to; race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, social-economic, and disability.

Appalachian Conservation Corps also emphasizes the engagement of local individuals who represent the communities in which they serve. ACC intentionally searches for funding sources and program options to support the goal of offering experiences to a wide range of participants.
